What’s your favorite MJ interview/behind the scenes clip?

Just watched his interviews with Oprah and Bashir (the rat himself). I’ve seen the interview of young him in the red shirt, and the Ebony Jet interview. i need to watch the making of Thriller and Ghosts and Black and White but I want to watch his bday celebration vid before all those! The bday vid with the fun cake smashing and “the imagination of me and you Mike” lol (I think that’s from his bday but correct me if I’m wrong). What vids or interviews of MJs do you guys like that I should add to my list to watch?

Is this a safe space to admit I thought Michosis had to do with Mitosis and not Psychosis

Oops I thought having michosis/going through michosis had something to do w Michael Jackson making up my cell DNA since that’s all I’d been thinking about since watching the movie… and then it only clicked about 4 weeks afterwards😅.but yes it is still true I was going through michosis (in the psychological sense)… slowly getting out of it tho and getting to a place where I’m enjoying his music without being obsessive/crazy!!

Pls help me find this specific J5 performance

Not sure if it’s a performance video or a TV special, but in this vid Michael is not baby young, thinking late teens, or 20/21? He’s wearing orange, I think all the brothers were wearing orange, and they’re all sitting on barstools, right next to each other, in a row and I don’t think Jermaine was there (so post Motown). The performance popped up on my TikTok and I can’t find it again, they were performing a slower song of theirs. Pls help!!!

Ed Bradley’s logic when interviewing MJ makes no sense

I’m not sure I’m wording my thought correctly so I will say this here loud and clear before you read on- MJ IS INNOCENT.

I just watched MJ’s interview with Ed Bradley on 60 minutes (from 2003): https://youtu.be/-GF2JUe-2Is?is=FnHuBs\_zrycK8kwI

Ed says unless you’re a relative of a child, it’s odd to share a bed with them. Why is it okay for a relative to share a bed with a child and not MJ when A- MJ is clear with his intentions and he even mentions he slept on the floor (and he even says if they did sleep on the same bed it’s fine). B- the parents knew about it. C- when you’re fond of someone as a child, you naturally cling and stick to them wherever they go! Lisa Marie Presley even says in an interview that kids followed MJ wherever he went because they loved him so much!! As kids, didn’t you ever ask your babysitter to lay in bed and put you to sleep? Or the guest visiting your house that you bonded with?

Im just in shock the media took these false allegations and ran with them without even taking points A, B and C above into consideration. Shame on them!!!

I check the groups in hopes that one day he’ll be back

This might sound insane but I’m addicted to all the (positive) Reddit groups about MJ. I check and refresh them all the time, and they’re usually the first thing I check on my phone every morning. It’s bizarre I know but a part of me feels like I’m checking feverishly because I am waiting for news saying “actually he’s alive” to pop up although I know the reality is he’s been gone🕊️. I don’t know if anyone else feels this way but it kind of eats at me, the waiting😔sigh. I guess i find solace in the fact that these groups/his fans/his family keep him and his legacy alive even if he can’t be with us here physically.

Idk Spanish but I love the Spanish version of I Just Can’t Stop Loving You

I don’t understand a lick of Spanish but I love the way he sounds in the Spanish version of I just can’t stop loving you. Just the way he pronounces everything so crisp does something to my ears🤩

Fav underrated dance move?

For me it’s the chest pop (you see it a lot in Smooth Criminal, think of the first scene when the yeOW and the music start, he hits you with a full out chest pop)

and the head bobble/nod(?)- think of the side to side minuscule movement he does with his head in the dangerous live performances. He also does it earlier in his career and it’s so stinking fly and has sm damn aura… if u guys know what move I’m talking abt PLS tell me if u know of other clips where he does them so I can watch all of them

Where can I find all the home vids of MJ and his kids?

You know, the iconic clips like “before I grind you into hamburger meat” and him reading Prince and Paris a book while looking disheveled lol.

Where did these videos come from? When were they released? Who released them? How can I watch all of them in their entirety? I just keep seeing them as short clips on TikTok and insta and want to see more!

Michael’s discography is amazing

I am a recent fan and listened to his albums (starting w OTW) in chronological order, and as I listened to each one all I could think was “how is he going to top this?” And someway, somehow… he does!!! Each album creates a whole new sound and it’s just scrumptious because it feels like he’s played with every genre and every emotion in his entire discography.

Whenever I listen to one song I just want to jump albums, because there’s gold on every album!! When I listen to the thriller album I’m like okay I need something angry, let me listen to History… or if I need something fun I throw Bad on… I need something angsty let me listen to Dangerous… if I need something w 2k vibes boom I switch to Invincible… idk it’s all just perfect!! Each album and each song just feels like a perfect ingredient in a delicious meal and I know people look at his songs album by album but honestly I look at all his albums as one giant album titled “his life”. The progression of each album really shows the progression of him!!!!

Was Michael Jackson’s lifestyle really that private?

We know MJ wanted to be private/mysterious to a certain extent, and his book Moonwalk even describes his lifestyle as “intensely private”. However we now have access to so much content on MJ that gives us a glimpse into him and his life- interviews, home videos, BTS videos… When all this content exists, why was he still deemed private? Was this content simply inaccessible when he was alive? Or were people simply looking for more intimate insight into him?

“Lady in my life” is to Thriller as “I can’t help it” is to OTW

“i can’t help it” is so underrated and has a more soft sensual sound, the same way “lady in my life” is underrated and has a sensual sound.

Anyone else think I Can’t Help It is underrated af?? I just love that intro as well, it’s mysterious, magical and sensual to me!!

I’m glad MJ tapped into R&B for Invincible!

So the Invincible album seems to be MJs least popular album. One opinion I saw that caught my eye was “the R&B market was already oversaturated so Invincible wasn’t really unique”. That may be true, HOWEVER we’ve gotten so many genres from Michael in his lifespan- soul, funk, disco, new jack swing, rock, pop and I’m SO glad r&b is also in his discography! As one artist he’s hit every genre that I love! Now I’m not left with a “what if” on what he’d sound like if he did R&B. Glad he’s left us with a 2000s album to add into the mix and get a 2000s nostalgia feel. (And although it is a 20+ year old album, it still sounds quite fresh to me!)

Why are his vocals quieter than the bg music on some songs?

I feel like there are many songs where I can’t hear him clearly and the background music is louder than him. jam, blood on the dance floor, she drives me wild are just a few songs where he sounds quiet/the instrumentals r louder than him…

Does anyone else feel this way?

The emotional rollercoaster that came with being a new fan of MJ

I’m going through a huge wave of emotions after watching the biopic (twice!)... I never knew much about MJ bc he passed when I was young and the more I learn the more I find myself obsessing. I’ve been listening to his songs nonstop, watching interviews n documentaries, edits, and just anything I can find across YT, TikTok n insta. It’s been overwhelming bc every time I see him, it hits me that he’s really gone and that he was such a good person who endured so many hardships. I haven’t even looked into the nitty gritty details of what happened in his final years bc I’ve been afraid that I’ll be miserable if I learn about everything he went through near the time of his death. The emotions that come with learning abt his life are all consuming…

But now I’m working hard to reframe my thinking… instead of being sad thinking abt everything horrible he had to endure, I try to think of his overall presence and his wins. Like he truly was the king of pop and the most famous superstar for good reason!! And I think he would want to be remembered as such. I think to myself that although he’s gone, he must love that he still remains so popular and well loved with new fans emerging with each day. reframing my thinking is making me view content of him as beautiful artifacts of the history on his life rather than backstories that build to his death.

Has anyone else felt this way? How do u process/cope w him being gone?

P.S. I do have to say thank u to the ppl in this group for helping me deal with these new emotions and reframe my thinking!!!

Did anyone else dive into his music after the biopic and realize how many songs were actually his?

I’d heard Heaven can wait on TikTok… had no clue it was him but was so happy to learn that it was!

Who’s lovin you… somewhere in my brain I’d heard the “I treated you baaaaaad” part but yet I had no clue it was the Jackson 5

Embarrassed to say I had no clue PYT was his song

And same with don’t stop till you get enough 🙈

In my defense Michael passed when I was young so his only songs that I knew were his were beat it, thriller, man in the mirror and Billie Jean… so glad to have discovered his music bc of the movie tho- he’s such a legend and honestly all non MJ music just sounds so mid to me now

What MJ song should I listen to next?

The biopic has me newly obsessed w MJ and I’ve been listening to a select few songs of his. I’ve had these songs on repeat:

Earth song
Billie Jean
Girlfriend
Falling in love
Heaven can wait
You rock my world
Human nature
Dirty Diana
Rock with you
Liberian girl
Leave me alone
Wanna be starting something
In the closet
Remember the time
PYT
Don’t stop till you get enough

and because they’re on repeat, I haven’t listened to much else. What should I add to my rotation next?
