Most people haven't heard of inkling since like 2019 so people tend to have a warped view of the character. When I tried to pick her up, I did too. But the hard truth is she simply cannot kill for the life of her and it makes her so much worse than she should be. And, like, when you tell people this, people will deadass tell you you're lying. They'll bring up booyah and ink and roller and back air as if these are good, consistent kill options, or mitigate that weakness at all. It doesn't, and I want to go through each of these one by one, starting with ink because it's the easiest to debunk.
Ink does not boost knockback. As much as I wish it did and think it would actually be really balanced if handled properly, it doesn't have that property. It boosts damage.
Next, back air. Man, I WISH Inkling back-air killed. Inkling having worse Cloud bair would be really nice. Sadly, it wasn't to be, because this thing kills at best at like 150 at ledge. And that's with a fresh bair, if it's staled (I promise you it's going to be staled) that shit won't kill even at the 200+ percents. It's just a spacing tool and a way to set up tech-chases. That's essentially it.
SPEAKING of tech chases, I want to talk about roller, because despite being one of the worse boost movement options in the game, it gets the most hate. I kind of get it, it's an annoying mechanic, but god dude if you get hit by this in neutral offline you're genuinely bad at the game. This thing is so telegraphed and slow it's crazy, and if you shield it, Inkling is stuck in a centuries' worth of endlag. I swear to god I've punished this move on shield with Cloud's forward smash before, it's that bad. It's used most often in the aforementioned tech-chase scenario, and it's not a bad tool to use for that purpose, but the problem is that if you actually know the matchup you'll just not input a tech and lay there because if you're in knockdown you don't get buried.
And lastly, the booyah. God I HATE this confirm. It's only barely a confirm, the sheer amount of things you need to think about when doing this in theory simple 2 piece combo is criminal. First of all, you can't buffer it. The timing is very specific and very annoying to do. You basically have to do multiple frame perfect inputs to do it, and that's not even the full extent of it because the percents and timings vary by character. In this 80 character game. Good luck practicing it on the entire cast! Oh and by the way if you go beyond the 20% window where the combo is both true and kills, you're screwed. Tough luck, buddy.
All this is to say that if you're not a psychopath then the most consistent way you're finding kills is with edgeguards. Which is something Inkling is genuinely pretty good at, but if your only way of finding kills before 150% beyond random whiff punishes is edgeguards that's pretty dire.
Lenin’s texts (specifically in regards to foreign policy), from what I’ve read, has a tendency to put class conflict in the subtext. It sort of expects you to already think about class whenever they talk about anything, which leads to instances where if you’re not already aware of the subtext it not only looks like Lenin is conflicting with Marx in some weird areas, but with other statements within the same piece of literature.
Take, for instance, Socialism and War. In it, you’ll seemingly find Lenin advocate for all wars of national liberation, while in the same article, he’ll contrast that with a metaphor between slave owners arguing over equal distribution of slaves. At first glance, this is contradictory, but if you read the subtext, he’s referring specifically to national liberation wars where the nation being liberated has no, or limited, bourgeoisie, instead having its’ affairs dictated by an Imperial bourgeoisie. In the case of a natlib war where the proletariat’s affairs are dictated by its’ own, national, bourgeoisie, this doesn’t apply, and is thus described by the previously described metaphor.
Anyway if anyone reading this thinks I’m stupid and wrong please tell me this was just my interpretation of the text.
