Rear hub ebike conversion advice

I am wanting to get an e bike conversion for my son's bike.

Must be UK street legal, so 250W and pedal assist only.

My query is not so much what kit to buy, but compatibility.

I found one, rear hub kit, looked great but they said it won't work for a QR frame with open dropouts.

The bike is a Specialized Rockhopper with 27.5" wheels.

Has anyone converted one, or similar with success?
