Has anyone replaced the windshield of a 5th gen RAV4 at a third-party shop?

I’m being quoted $1,600 at the dealership, but only about $500 at independent shops. The dealer claims the higher price is because the front camera/sensor system needs to be calibrated after the new glass is installed.

If you have replaced your front windshield at a local, independent shop, please share your experience:

Did you have any issues with the camera, lane assist, or rain sensors afterward?

Did the independent shop handle the calibration for you? Or was the windshield installed without being calibrated at all?
