AITA for telling my dad his bathroom make his apartment unrentable in its current state
My father has been living in nyc for 30 years, he recently retired and decided to live most of the year back to DR, where he was born. Recently he’s gotten the idea to rent out the apartment he owns, which i honestly taught was a good idea. The only problem is, is that his apartment is in terrible condition. This has been the apartment I grew up in, when my parent first bought the apartment, it was in great condition, they redid everything (this was about 20 years old) and when parents got divorced, my mother moved away and my dad stayed with the apartment. He went through a very hard depression and honestly did not keep up with the apartment. It’s pretty much covered with item (cans of food, clothing, junk from when I was a child) and he never really cleaned much. He currently has a non working fridge in the kitchen, and a working one in the middle of his living room. The stove is broken down, the cabinet is probably covered in dead roaches and old mice dropping. His bathroom is also in hard condition, tiles are broken and half glued together, it’s covered in black mold and it’s half taped up. When I tried to explain to him, that prior to thinking of renting this apartment he would need to invest in fixing it up, he told me I was wrong, and that he’d find someone who would pay cheap to rent it out. I explain that anyone who would willingly rent out the apartment in its current state would most likely take terrible care of it, and cause it to depreciate in value. I mean when I stay over, I usually have to go down stairs to my aunt who live a floor below just to shower comfortably. I don’t even like having anyone come with me to visit because it’s in such bad condition, I know it would make most people uncomfortable. Anyways when I mentioned these concerns, he told me I was not only wrong but rude for being this up, and that he “bet if I showed anyone online, they would agree that it’s not bad” so with his agreement, here is his bathroom? Am I wrong? Am I just being too judgmental? Or is this bathroom as bad as I think? I’m not gonna show the rest of the apartment because honestly he won’t even dare send a picture of that kitchen. I will post pictures in comment section
