TECSUN PL880
If I truly do not need Bluetooth and SD cards of the PL990, am I giving up anything magnificent if I save a few $$ and buy the PL880?

I own the Pl330 and love it (although my fat fingers struggle a bit). I am considering the PL880, for somewhat better speaker and being slightly larger and the fine tuning, etc.
If you have owned the 330 and the 880, what is better on the 880?
And, if you kept the 330 after your 880 acquisition, what does it do better that wants you to keep it?
Need chokes on my RG6 coax feed line. Probably a .30” ID?
Any help as where I can buy them ?
Thanks
Have been a licensed ham for 35 years, but pretty much laid it down about 15 years ago. I am now wanting to become active again - beginning with a dual (or tri) band HT for light rag chewing on local repeaters. I want to just dip my toe and see if I catch fire again. I listen in on hams often as I scan the SW bands.
I am increasingly confused as I read specs, etc on so many options. I am 82 years young, but still capable to remember and re-learn.
Hopefully, some here can guide me toward my “first” re-entry radio.
At this point I believe that a unit that has CHIRP programming might be sweet.
Price is less important to me than is ease of use and easy programming. Of course, I do not need the top of the line.
Thanks for any tips.
My eBay order for an RTL-SDR Blog V4 may be a scam - no shipping or communication. May have to spring for a SDRPlay RSP1B.
I do not like the cost, but am impressed with what I have read of this unit.
That would require using one of the subject software options if I understand correctly.
Are these software options user friendly for a new to SDR ham?
Anyone using subject size radio come up with an angled stand for the radio? Or, maybe plan for a DIY build.
Thanks.
I have seen recommendations on line, but feel more comfortable getting opinions from real users. Thanks
Having zero luck finding this dongle at any of the three suggested authorized sellers (Amazon, EBay, Ali Express).
Any suggestions? Don’t want to get stuck with a counterfeit!
For those who have or will upgrade the coax that comes with the antenna, what have/will you go with?
Looking for ferrite snap on cores for the coax and power feed on my MLA30+ antenna.
Most of the Amazon offerings show no mix (ie, 31, 75).
Should I not worry about the mix and just buy the Amazon cheapies, or ought I try to find a specific mix and buy them?
I see a plethora of said antennas on Amazon. Is any one better than the others?
Or, ought I be buying it elsewhere?
Thank you!
I have the Tecsun 330 and enjoy it.
My only complaint is the extreme scarcity of decent SW stations I receive.
Is this a situation common to my radio, or is it common to the entire SW radio universe?
Buy a better/$$$ radio or no point?
In spite of the praises of the Platinum, my face seems to prefer the Stainless.
Seems smoother to me and I get a couple more shaves per blade.
Maybe just me.
I would think that these two bullets (in 380 auto) would have differing COL in their load data.
But, Speer shows them to be both at 0.970 (although the RN is 95gr and the HP is 90gr).
I load 95gr FMJ RN AT 0.970.
If I tried a 95gr HP, would not it be a shorter COL.
I have never seen these bullets side by side, so have no idea how the shape affects length of bullet, so maybe that is what I’m missing.
Finding widely differing data for reloading a Speer 95gr RN FMJ over Alliant Bullseye.
Any min-max loads from folk here?
My .380 Thunder has L32015 stamped into the back of the slide and also on the frame forward above the trigger guard.
Is this my serial number?
I purchased the 40V 15 in. Expand-It Cordless Battery Attachment Capable String Trimmer
two weeks ago. Pre loaded string broke off inside the spool (tangled) on the day I brought it home.
Fought for two hours to get the spool out of the head so as to remove tangle and reload new string.
Impossible to turn the disc from lock to unlock to remove spool. Gave up.
Messaged Ryobi Customer Care. After six exchanges (8 days) they informed me of their Rapid Repair Mail in program and said they would email me a prepaid label. Twelve more days (and 9 messages) later, and still no label. So, I went on line and scheduled a customer service call for today at 8am. No call.
Unit is essentially useless if you cannot get at the spool.
It is the most frustrating exchange I have ever had with any company. I would like to keep the unit as I have other cordless 40V tools and like having the same batteries/charger. But, the customer service at Ryobi is utterly non-existent!
However, I am at Witt’s end and am about ready to return the unit to HD.
What say you?
