I dont think either of us (21M and 20F) want to permanently move (Long Distance)

I (21M) met my girlfriend (20F) in Europe. She lives in Brisbane, Australia and I live in Bristol, England. With my uni, i was given the opportunity to do a year abroad in Melbourne to continue my degree. This was always the 'driving factor' in our relationship.

We've been dating for over a year and we've come to see each other many times. She's visited me in Bristol, I've visited her in Brisbane. The university exchange starts in a couple of weeks and i've found myself reluctant to book anything as every time i do, i get an overwhelming sense of discomfort and sadness. I've been to Melbourne, it's a nice place it really is, and i often do get excited about the whole move at times too.

It feels like i'm having to 'choose between' the people i love. My friends and family are all back home, as well as my dog. When it's that far away (24h flight), the chances of seeing these people for at least a year are low. The other side is of course, missing my girlfriend and her family immensely if i don't move.

Whenever I ask my girlfriend if she would potentially move to England long term, she just doesn't know. Completely valid answer, its cold here! I really like living in England, and the idea of moving to Australia is getting scarier every day, especially as it's moving to a city 2h 30 flight away from where my girlfriend lives in any case.

This is the hard part though, because i want to see a future with her so much, I am just worried that i will sacrifice 'too much' of what i already have to make that happen. After the exchange year ends i have to go back to Bristol to complete my final year of my degree, so it'd be another year of long distance, which we have coped with very well.

The hard part is the permanent move. What if i feel the exact same next year once i've completed the year abroad, and still want to live in England permanently?
