Hello,
I’m looking for a chicken neighbor to help us with chicken health issues. Last month or so I took one to the vet and it felt like a waste of $250 since they gave me the same advice Reddit gave me.

I now have another chicken I’m worried about and it’s likely something simple that most chicken owners have seen before. I will be happy to pay a visit fee for your chicken knowledge if you swing by and take a look at her.

She’s just kind of slow and confused. ISA brown. About 10 months old. Has not laid an egg the last few days.

We tried the warm water bath and isolation to see if it was a stuck egg but that hasn’t helped yet. I think there’s an issue with her chest crop area feeling like a swollen sack of water.

Any clue who to call about this street light? It’s installed to face our driveway and windows instead of lighting the street. It seems odd to make such a mistake so maybe the previous owner requested it? I can’t really make sense of why it’s there and would love to have it moved.

Update,
I contacted the city but now I’m looking at my energy bill and I see Total cost of electricity $$$. Followed by an extra line item that reads “residential lighting @ 15kwh” $6.71

Every bill this last year had Elec Metered cost and this lighting cost.

Is it possible that the previous owner added this for their yard, or is residential lighting on everyone’s bill for the neighborhood?

Yup. Due to my wife and child I now have 7 pets. Dotty messed with a mole trap and hurt her foot. I feel a little silly bringing a chicken to the vet but here I am.

$150 minimum for this visit. The cost doesn’t make sense but does anyone else treat their chickens as pets and spend vet money, or am I now a crazy chicken person?

New to chickens but they have been shocking easy. They put themselves to sleep, stay together as they roam the yard to their favorite resting spots. Haven’t tried to fly over the 6’ fence yet.

Do they stay this easy? Or is it like human children where they switch it up on you right when you think you’ve got parenting under control?

Using Omlet coop door. Camera in run and coop. Free range whenever I’m home.

This was all a beginner setup to see if we wanted to commit, and so far we love it.

First timer here.
Was told 6-8 weeks or until brood temp matches outdoor temp. Brood is down to around 70. Outside is 45-65ish.

Each day I move them to an 8x8 run when temps hit 55 and they seem fine but then I bring them in for overnight.

Are they coop ready?
