F-35 touchdown drills* at Prescott Regional

Might have permanent hearing damage, but that was pretty cool.

I assume it was touchdown drills because I didn't figure a dozen were taking off. They seemed to launch, do a big circle, then come back around, drop into the airport and come up again. Maybe 2-3, but couldn't tell.

Fabric medium help

So I started converting old graphic T's to wall art because I was otherwise just going to throw them away. The shirt pictured is the most worn out which I've tried so far and I have run into my first major issue.

I applied fabric medium as I have to my other shirts, in part as the first step to seal them, but also to create a base for adding my own little additions (for example: I painted the fairy Navi on a Zelda shirt). With this shirt, the medium caused it to bubble up in some places. It is still plenty pliable.

My current thought is to just remove some staples and pull it right again. I have to do it a little anyway as there are some hairs that ended up underneath it. Would love some ideas if there is a better way than just re-stretching. Would also appreciate suggestions for preventing this from happening with future projects as I am new to this kind of art.

I am using NicPro Fabric Paint Medium, and they are stapled to regular ol' painting canvas from a craft store.

The Ballad of the Piper MacDonald

I wrote this tune over a decade ago. Fun little story I thought I'd tell.

A world musician, who was the closest thing I ever had to a mentor, regularly graced me with time on his stage. I already played a lot of Irish folk at the time. He liked the way I performed folk songs, especially wordy ballads.. so he suggested I write a wordy ballad based on the Phantom Piper of Castle Duntrune.

The printed section shown on the sheet was all the progress I made in a week. I had a solid concept, and had been studying the Piper between his shows. I showed him what I had come up with and he said I should play it.

Dude.. it isn't finished. Doesn't matter, he still wanted to hear it later in the evening when my time to play came up. Alone in a booth at "Arizona's oldest Irish pub", I scribbled down the rest of the song in around an hour or so.

Time to play arrived. So here I have this new folk song I just wrote, but have never played, with nary a music stand about. Another performer* who regularly sat in with him to accompany his fiddle with her bodhran got drafted into helping. So I'm standing up on stage and this person is just holding the sheet in front of me. It went great, and the song remains my most requested.

Here is a video of me performing the song somewhat more recently, accompanied by the aforementioned bodhran player: https://youtu.be/e\_41dKxC8IQ?is=z82AVCl5mIS-MfQI

The Mahones - Is This Bar Open 'Till Tomorrow chord sheet

Been meaning to learn this one for ages. Was not satisfied with Chordify and couldn't find a good set anywhere, so I put together my own chord sheet. Do enjoy! Feedback welcome.

"Freedom" untitled sketch circ. 2013

This is one of the earlier songs I wrote. At the time, I was a year post army and drinking hard on top of subsisting on only around $700 a month. Stumbled across the video in my archive yesterday.

Seeking specific version of "The Boys of Kilmichael"

Hey all! American playing Irish Folk going on 20 years now and I've somehow only just discovered this song. Sadly, I fell in love with the first version I heard and haven't been able to find it outside of the original context (linked below). Happy to settle on the Wolf Tones version, but was hoping someone might know offhand given some differing lyrics.

I heard the song in this video at ~20:44

Advice on bird baths and sick/dying birds?

Hello, neighbors! We have a bird bath that has sat empty most of the time we've lived at our house. We started filling it a couple of weeks ago and have since stopped. Three days in a single week, we had sick doves in our block wall. 4 altogether with 1 able to fly away after some rest in the shade.

Note: this bird bath is in the middle of the yard, so it gets pretty hot and has sun on it for much of the day.

Are we getting doves that are sick anyway just because we have water so they're nearby, are there steps we're missing when filling/cleaning, or is it an issue with the bath being in the sun?

It was nice to see them around the house when we fill it. Especially a very talkative crow who regularly visits (now just screeches at us from a nearby tree). However, while the dog is oblivious to healthy birds, she is way too interested in sick ones. Could use advice for filling the bath without feeding sick birds to the dog.
