I picked up the R5 from a truck sim bundle as an upgrade to my cheap 50 dollar 2 pedal Defender thing. It was a great purchase, don't get me wrong, but something was "wrong"...
Not even a week passed and I started to hear the equilavent of a jet engine from time to time. That noise came from the base, and after searching around I think this is a common issue regarding the R5. I also have the stalks, so maybe that may have added fuel to fire, who knows.
I'm getting ambitious with my drivesim world, and from what I could find the better deal was the R21 Ultra (i could go with the R12 but me don't want all that power). R16 lacked the adapters and the V2 is hard to come by in my country. Not to mention they costed more than the R21 Ultra. The exact item I picked had a downside of long shipping time, but hey - it was cheaper nontheless!
I play only ETS2, but I'll look into simracing when I get the smaller wheel.
