Genuine question from new designer

This might be a really silly question, maybe relatable.

Context: I’m a recent mechanical engineering graduate and will be going to graduate school for a Masters in Human-Computer Interaction. I want to become a Product/UX Designer. People are now asking me since recently graduating “Do you have a job lined up?”, then followed by me saying no and saying I’m continuing education. This leads to the question of what I’m studying, which sometimes I don’t know how to respond. My brain kicks into the mode of will they understand and how can I make it simple for them to.

That being said, how do product/ux designers explain their career without making it complicated? Or maybe I’m overthinking this?

Where do you find running gear that's bold without being loud?

Trying to find that sweet spot with running gear where it has some color and energy but doesn't look like I'm trying to be seen from space. Everything I find is either boring as hell or full neon. Do smaller brands exist that get this right or am I searching wrong?
