I recently cleared my phone's cache (including google services), and now each time it prompts me to enter my password, it asks for 2-step authentication with the only 2 viable options being SMS or sending a code to my device.

But, when I select SMS it starts processing and abruptly ends the process, going back to the previous screen.

When I alternatively select recovery code, it says "there was a problem generating the security code."

I can access my accounts on my laptop just fine. It's my phone that's now stuck in this infinite loop.

Should I factory reset my phone just to resolve this? Seems a bit extreme, but this is so stupid for 2026. Remember when they sold us on "tech innovation will make all of our lives so much more convenient"?

My (US) state license expired and when I reached out to the DMV they said I could apply for an out-of-state renewal (which gives a 12-month courtesy past the expiration date to renew it).

When I got the packet of paperwork, it states that I need to get my eyesight info signed off by a licensed eyecare professional (and notarized). But, it *also* says "expedited services is not available if you're outside the US" ...so I'm confused on the context of this disclaimer as to why they would feel the need to say this if I'm required to have this paperwork completed on American soil anyway...

I also have to mail them a check, not sure how to do this yet. I have a friend receiving my mail while I'm here.

If anyone else has had to do something similar, what did you figure out? I'm wondering if I should've gotten an international driver's license before coming here.
