Boys being boys

This meme reminds me of my Uni life blunders.

I remember this one girl who clearly had a crush on me. She was incredibly sweet, simple, and always wore traditional desi outfits. One day, a bunch of us were sitting around, and I completely misread the room. I looked at her and jokingly said, "Why don't you shave your mustache? It’s pretty visible because of your lipstick." Everyone burst out laughing, and she started crying right there. At the time, I genuinely had no idea how hurtful and sensitive comments like that could be.

Another time, a girl got her hair dyed burgundy at an expensive parlor and was proudly showing it off in front of me. I looked at it and said, "You know, a 10-rupee packet of henna could have given you the exact same result for a fraction of the cost." She burst into tears, too.

Honestly, back then, I just didn't understand women at all and thought they got offended over minor things. While I’m still figuring things out, I at least know better now. Looking back, I realize how casual insensitivity can really crush someone's confidence, and I’m much more cautious about the things I say.
