Planning on going to my first Have A Nice Life concert next month! What should I expect?

I should also add that it's going to be my first concert, period.

They're going to my city this July, and I was hoping to come with my mom. I've listened to a few of their live performances, but other than that, I don't actually know all that much about what their concerts are like. Is there anything I need to know? They've been my #1 favorite band for quite some time, so I'm really excited. Thanks! ^^

How would a rotating centrifuge for a spaceship be built that would prevent the occupants from getting injured while traveling through it?

I don't know exactly where I should post this, so forgive me if this is the wrong sub.

I'm not an engineer, but I am writing a novel which features a spaceship that has a rotating centrifuge for artificial gravity. The ship itself doesn't rotate, yet it still has two habitat masts that rotate around its central axis.

I figured this was an ok method of generating artificial gravity, but then I wrote a scene in the book where a character climbs from the bottom of one habitat mast to the central axis, where there isn't any artificial gravity. The way I imagined it operating then was that the habitat mast would have a ladder traveling to a rotating core, at the ship's central axis. Where they connect, there would be a tunnel granting the person access to the rest of the ship. The core and the central tunnel would have hatches aligning with each other to allow people to travel between them.

I was prepared to leave it at that, but then I realized something: the core would still be spinning, so there would be a moment where the hatches would be obscured. It wasn't a huge issue, but then I had a really morbid thought: there's the possibility an occupant could get snagged between the rotating hatches if they traversed the centrifuge too late. (I'm sure you can imagine what might happen next, yikes.)

That would be a genius creative idea if someone made an installment of Final Destination where it was in space, but my novel does not have that kind of tone.

Thinking about it some more, I came to the conclusion where, to make sure the occupant doesn't die, the actual ship would have to be split into three parts: A front end, the centrifuge itself, and the rear end.

However, that would mean that there would be many weak points where the ship itself could potentially split and be destroyed. Again, this would be nice if I was making a space disaster novel, but I'm planning for the ship to be completely intact throughout the entire plot.

I think I have a vague idea on how to solve this, (I'll post a rough sketch I did in the comments) but if there are any engineers on this sub that have worked on projects like this, I'd really appreciate your insight. This little design issue has completely snowballed out of control, and the sooner I can put this to bed, the better.

Thank you so much, and apologies if I put this in the wrong sub! ^^

EDIT: I just came up with a solution that would circumvent the entire structural issue: just making the centrifuge hub's diameter wider than the central axis.

DANGIT!

Does anyone know where I can find HANL's other albums?

Hey, y'all! Somewhat new fan here. I use streaming services like iTunes, but I notice that it only has a few of their albums. A lot of their other music (notably a lot of the demos from their 2024 Voids remaster) I can't seem to find anywhere, aside from uploads to YouTube and the collection u/yokucasper made, which I'll link here.

Is there any way I can find actual copies of these songs (vinyl, CDs, etc.), or is it just through these methods?

Thanks! ^^

I made a paper model of the Hail Mary (book and movie versions), what do you guys think?

It's been just about a week since I finished the patterns and started making the model. I wanted to wait until I finished it to post my next update, but I ran into a few roadblocks along the way.

Well, it's almost finished, as you can see in the picture! I started building it last Saturday, and was fortunately able to make the "tricky" components just fine! (The cone for the fuselage and the side fuel tanks.)

I was on track to finishing the model that weekend until I started making the habitat on Monday.

At first, I screwed up the measurements. The habitat ended up being too short and was the wrong proportions. At the time, I was really exhausted and school was going to start tomorrow, so I mostly just gave up and decided to save it for the weekend. Well, I got sick today, so that bought me an extra day to work on it, which was what I was doing this morning.

And then I saw this video.

So, it turns out that the art department changed some really significant parts about the Hail Mary from the time they released that official concept art and the time they released the movie! The rear habitat, it turns out, ended up much longer and more segmented than in the concept art.

I knew that there was stuff about the ship that I wasn't skilled enough to attempt, (like the oblique cones and the detailing on the spin drives) but I just couldn't let that slide.

Fortunately, this ended up being a net positive, because the redesign isn't actually that bad, because it's only half of the habitat, not the entire thing. Plus, that video also gave me some good close-up shots, which really helped as a reference for detailing the ship.

So, I'm back on Google Drawings and redoing the habitat. It's not my favorite and math isn't my strongest suit, but I should be back on track later today, if not tomorrow!

Cya!

Thank you so much, mods, for allowing me to post this!

I've linked below the Google Files for the patterns, plus a tutorial doc if you need help here.

I recommend you print this on cardstock, any thickness will do. ^^

Have fun, guys! ^^

ETA: I'm also working on the paper model for the movie version of this ship. Once I finish that and make sure it's ok to be released, I'll ask for permission to post the files for that, as well. ^^

Seven sheets of cardstock!!!!!!!! SEVEN!!!!

This is definitely an experimental model. The part I'm most worried about are the slanted cylinders and the giant truncated cone at the back, because I'm historically bad at making anything but a triangular prism and a tube. 😅

I'm gonna watch the Grace go home scene from the movie on Youtube for goodwill. Wish me luck, gang! 👎👎👎

Update: I may have made a miscalculation or two. Bleh. Back to the drawing board...
