Complete beginner with a new acoustic. What free path would you follow for 12 weeks?

First guitar, bought today. No music background. Learning at home on my own.

Target: play and sing along to one song by end of December. Labon Ko by KK, a Hindi song with simple open chords as far as I know. Corrections welcome.

Looking for a free structured path. Which website or YouTube series would you start with, and what should I practice first week? Happy to follow one clear route instead of jumping around.

Bonus round: how do you sing and strum at the same time without both falling apart? Singing tips for someone who sounds like a kettle are welcome.

Suunto Run vs Run 2 - which looks better on a smaller wrist? (gift for her first half)

Hi folks,

Gifting a running watch to my girlfriend for her first ever half marathon (Bajaj Pune Marathon, Dec 13). Coros Pace 4 is the safe pick, but the Suunto Run keeps coming up - so some owner questions:

  1. If you run with a Suunto Run in India - how has it been? GPS in our cities, app experience, battery, service/support?
  2. Run vs the new Run 2 - she has a smaller wrist, so how it looks and sits matters. Which one looks sleeker in person? Is the Run 2 worth the extra for a first-timer?
  3. Budget matters since Suunto is niche here - Suunto India lists the Run at Rs.25,999. What did you pay, and where?

Thanks!

Suunto Run deals in India? (gift for a first half marathon)

Hi folks,

Picking a running watch as a gift for my girlfriend before her first half marathon (Bajaj Pune Marathon, Dec 13). The Coros Pace 4 is the frontrunner, but a few people suggested the Suunto Run - and with the Run 2 out now, I am hoping the first Run starts seeing discounts (Suunto India currently lists it at Rs.25,999).

  1. Anyone in India using the Suunto Run - how has it been?
  2. Where did you buy, and what did you pay? Any sales worth watching (Amazon, Flipkart, Suunto India)?
  3. Run vs Run 2 - is the newer one worth the extra for a first-timer?

Thanks!

Gifting a watch for her first half marathon (Bajaj Pune Marathon) - Coros Pace 4 or alternatives?

My girlfriend is training for her first half marathon at the Bajaj Pune Marathon, and I want to surprise her with a running watch before race day.

Current frontrunner is the Coros Pace 4 - light, long battery, covers the basics well.

Questions for this community:

  1. Pace 4 owners - how has it been for training + race day? Any India-specific quirks (GPS in cities, service/support, where you bought it)?
  2. Worth comparing against Garmin Forerunner 55/165 or Amazfit in the same budget?
  3. Anything a first-time half-marathoner will actually use vs features that sound good but sit unused?

It's a surprise, so I can't just ask her 🙂 Appreciate the help!

Also - where's the best place to buy in India (online or offline in Pune)? Where have you seen the biggest discounts, and anything to keep in mind when buying - warranty, trusted sellers, import vs India unit?

Running through a comeback - a small community run in Pune on 3 October

A few months ago I had a hernia operation and wasn't sure when I'd run again. Getting back on the road has been slow, but it's reminded me why I started: the people you meet out there.

I run with PuneRunners, a small community of runners across Pune. We do weekly runs and long runs together - everything from first 5Ks to marathon training, all paces welcome. What started as a few of us showing up on weekends has grown into the kind of group where someone always waits for you at the last stretch.

For my birthday this year I wanted to do the thing that's been getting me through recovery: run with people. So on 3 October we're hosting a relaxed community run in the Koregaon Park / University area of Pune, starting 6 am (exact meeting point shared on registration). Easy pace, no race pressure, open to anyone who wants to join - whether you're training for something or just want company on a morning run. My goal is simple: finish the run with a few new running friends.

It's not a commercial event - there's a Rs.99 charge that only covers the bibs, nothing more.

If you're in Pune and this sounds like your kind of morning, drop a comment or DM me and I'll share the details.
