hi everyone,
i had booked an appointment with a tattoo artist in toronto for next month, june—mind you, this has been in the works for 2 months now.
anyways, she texts today saying she has to cancel and reschedule, however i already bought plane tickets for those few specific days to accommodate for my appt with her.
i ask if she’s able to refund my deposit of $250, and she’s very firm that all deposits are “non-refundable”. however it feels a bit unfair as i wasn’t the one who cancelled you know?
she asks what city i’m from—i tell her and she has NO CLUE where it is, despite being another major canadian city. she then proceeds to say that she will be travelling to other canadian cities to tattoo, and that she might come to mine in september, but at this point im over it and simply want a refund (esp since i already spent $$$$ on this trip to toronto alone to even get this tattoo…)
i ask her again if i could get a refund and she said “oh but i was just about to book my trip to ur city right now”….keep in mind, she didn’t even KNOW what and where my city was 5minutes ago, i highly doubt she was on expedia booking a whole trip to my city in that short amount of time 😭
i tell her again, that i simply just want my deposit back and then says she can refund me “half”—tell me why she said she’s willing to send me $100?? that isn’t even half of $250…
and now she’s saying that me booking the trip and spending money on flights and hotels, is basically on me (which i understand, but i did all of that to get tatted by her..) and it feel so unfair that i can’t even get my $250 deposit back?
i have been planning this tattoo appt with her for the past two months. i had to meticulously plan this trip out as i’m in university for the summer and work.
she just keeps emphasizing that the policy is a non-refundable deposit. but at this point i’m starting to feel like i’m getting scammed in one way or another lol.
what do you guys think? am i wrong for feeling this isn’t fair?
tldr: tattoo artist cancelled on me, refuses to refund $250 deposit back to me.
