5-year-old unspayed cat in heat — noticed a few blood spots. Is this normal?

My female cat is around 5 years old and is not spayed. She is currently in heat and has been howling a lot and spraying on objects.

She is eating and drinking normally and otherwise seems okay. Today, however, I noticed a few small pale-red blood spots on the floor after she came out of the litter tray.

She also seems to be urinating differently than usual, although she has been spraying frequently.

I’ve read that cats normally don’t bleed during heat, so I’m getting concerned.

Has anyone experienced this with their female cat? Could it simply be related to the urinary tract, or could it indicate something more serious?

Would really appreciate hearing your experiences and what your vet advised. How urgent was it in your case?

My unspayed 5-year-old cat is in heat and I noticed small blood spots — should I be worried?

My female cat is around 5 years old and is not spayed. She is currently in heat and has been howling, spraying on objects, etc.

She is eating and drinking normally and otherwise seems fine. However, today I noticed a few small pale-red/blood spots on the floor after she came out of the litter tray. She also seems to be urinating differently, although she has been spraying frequently.

I know cats generally shouldn’t bleed during heat, so I’m concerned.

Has anyone experienced something similar with an unspayed female cat? Could this be from her urinary tract, or should I be worried about something more serious like pyometra?

What did your vet recommend, and how urgent was it? Any experiences or advice would be appreciated.
