Hey guys, Been noticing how much the matcha scene in India has grown recently, especially over the last couple of years. I spent around 8 years living and studying in Ooty, and tea cultivation there is already huge. Now some producers are starting to experiment more seriously with Japanese-style green tea processing and matcha production because the demand is rising.
Personally, I love hojicha but in matcha, I prefer one that’s: • creamy • naturally sweet • rich in umami • little to no bitterness
So I was wondering — if there was an Indian-grown matcha from Ooty that aimed for that kind of profile, would you actually buy it?
Especially if it was priced lower than imported Japanese matcha while still focusing on quality and proper processing.
Things I’m curious about: • Would origin matter to you? • What price range would make you try it? • Would you use it for lattes only, or also drink it straight/usucha? • What’s the biggest thing that makes you trust a matcha brand?
Genuinely curious about what matcha drinkers think, because India’s tea regions have the climate and elevation for interesting possibilities.
I usually prefer hojicha over matcha because I like smoother, roasted, less bitter flavours. I’ve tried Noon Club and Superbrew so far, and I’ll be trying Midori Spring Tea and Nami soon. My usual recipe is honey/brown sugar + ice + Oatside oat milk + hojicha.
I tried banana milk once (dairy milk) with it but didn’t really like it much 😅 so any other hojicha latte/recipe recommendations are welcome.
22F looking for gift ideas for my 29M boyfriend (techie, long distance, already gifted the usual stuff)
My partner 29M next month and I’m trying to think of something meaningful/useful to gift him.
We’ve been a little long distance for the past 8 months, and he’ll finally be coming back next month, so I want it to feel a bit special — not just random.
He’s a techie/software engineer type. Last year I already gifted him: • a wallet • shirts/clothes • a whole gift setup/hamper vibe
I don’t really want to do: • shoes • basic clothes again • generic perfumes/wallets/watch etc.
I want something that feels: • thoughtful • slightly personal • maybe useful for a tech guy • but still romantic/cute in a mature way (not cringe)
Budget is flexible if the idea is genuinely good. Wanted to give him Lattafa angham but he alr got thru my opinion 🙂↕️ Would love suggestions from guys especially — what gifts actually stay memorable at 29?

Sakura matcha bar Review- So obsessed with them! You can tell they use great quality matcha and hojicha powders! Been a fan since Nov 2024 ig! Og Hojicha and earl grey matcha is a must try! I hope they release their own powder tins soon! This is my personal ranking in Bangalore-
Turtle and Latcha seems like an “influencer”/ “we serve to baddies” type of cafés to me and Latcha has limited options, their Wednesday buy 1 get 1 is a hit and turtle has potential!
