Iced Mango Matcha Latte

This was phenomenal. I bought it for my girlfriend from a local cafe.

I didn’t know matcha was a type of green tea. So, if I drink it frappe style without adding sugar, will it aid in weight loss? Is it for weight loss?🤔

Because I have ordered culinary grade matcha tea from some chinese brand dofotea on a whim. I dont know much about it but im planning to make matcha lattes for me and my girlfriend.

Best way to make matcha?

Hey fellow matcha lovers! I’m new to making matcha at home & I’ve ordered Tencha ceremonial matcha. Now I don’t have a bamboo whisk. Please advise how can i make decent matcha without it. TIA 🫶🏻💚

Anyone has tried matcha from these two brands ?

I’ve come across quite a few people purchasing and appreciating Sado Matcha, so I’ve been curious about trying them as well, especially since they recently launched a new Yame blend.

Kabuki also seems interesting, but the brand still feels relatively new and I haven’t been able to find many reliable reviews or long-term opinions on their matcha yet. I do see them marketing quite actively, but not enough actual user discussions around the products.

So I’m a bit confused whether these two brands are genuinely worth exploring or if I should wait for more community feedback.

Would love to hear honest experiences or thoughts from people who’ve tried either of them 🙂

Review on Matcha from Bistro 57

Very thick matcha. They mixed ice cream in matcha and blended it like a milkshake with mango syrup. It is a waste of money ngl

Don’t walk, run for this 🏃‍♀️

Made strawberry matcha using Sado matcha tea and it was so creamyyyy and yum!!!! Very umami and no astringency at all, very affordable too! It’s from this small business based in Sikkim and it did not disappoint

Matcha drinkers- would you try this? Am I crazy for thinking Ooty could produce amazing matcha?

Hey guys, Been noticing how much the matcha scene in India has grown recently, especially over the last couple of years. I spent around 8 years living and studying in Ooty, and tea cultivation there is already huge. Now some producers are starting to experiment more seriously with Japanese-style green tea processing and matcha production because the demand is rising.

Personally, I love hojicha but in matcha, I prefer one that’s: • creamy • naturally sweet • rich in umami • little to no bitterness

So I was wondering — if there was an Indian-grown matcha from Ooty that aimed for that kind of profile, would you actually buy it?

Especially if it was priced lower than imported Japanese matcha while still focusing on quality and proper processing.

Things I’m curious about: • Would origin matter to you? • What price range would make you try it? • Would you use it for lattes only, or also drink it straight/usucha? • What’s the biggest thing that makes you trust a matcha brand?

Genuinely curious about what matcha drinkers think, because India’s tea regions have the climate and elevation for interesting possibilities.

Homemade Peach Iced Tea-Matcha

I prepared homemade Peach Iced Tea for my Matcha. Honestly, it’s such a refreshing combo. The tanginess works really well with matcha.

Recipe:

- Boil peaches briefly to loosen the skin, then peel them.

- Use the same water and add the peach pulp.

- Add lemon juice, brown sugar, and a pinch of black salt.

- Let it simmer for a few minutes.

- Strain the liquid before the pulp completely dissolves.

- The strained liquid becomes the iced tea concentrate and usually has a little peach pulp left in it, which tastes great.

- The remaining pulp in the pan can be used as peach jam or spread.

- Refrigerate the iced tea before adding your whisked matcha.

Edit: For making jam, you will have to keep cooking further until it gets to the jam consistency😅 and ofcourse, sugar and salt and lemon has to be added again lil more as per your taste preference.

Strawberry & mint matcha mojito

Strawberry compote + paper boat zero sugar mint mojito + matcha

I just happened to have all these so I thought why not make a matcha out of it. I loved it so much.

Hojicha Affagato 🤎

Usucha with hojicha instead of matcha. Used about 40ml of room temperature water with 4gm Hojicha. Sifted before preparing.
Served over a scoop of vanilla icecream.
Hits the spot, very refreshing. Shared this with my sibling ;)

Sakura matcha bar- Bangalore Matcha cafe’s

Sakura matcha bar Review- So obsessed with them! You can tell they use great quality matcha and hojicha powders! Been a fan since Nov 2024 ig! Og Hojicha and earl grey matcha is a must try! I hope they release their own powder tins soon! This is my personal ranking in Bangalore-

  1. Sakura Matcha bar (JP Nagar, Victoria Layout)
  2. Midori Matcha, Indiranagar
  3. Teka, Indiranagar
  4. Turtle Matcha bar, Indiranagar
  5. Latcha, JP nagar

Turtle and Latcha seems like an “influencer”/ “we serve to baddies” type of cafés to me and Latcha has limited options, their Wednesday buy 1 get 1 is a hit and turtle has potential!

Thoughts on Long-Term Matcha Consumption & Moderation?

Lately I’ve been wondering if modern matcha culture has shifted a bit from “tea appreciation” into “wellness/caffeine consumption.”

I’m seeing huge servings (4g+), multiple large lattes a day, cream foams, etc. become very normalized online. Sometimes it feels like matcha culture has become more aesthetic/cute than realistic when it comes to long-term consumption habits.

Meanwhile topics like:

caffeine sensitivity

iron absorption/ferritin

IBS/gut sensitivity

realistic long-term intake

barely get discussed.

I enjoy matcha myself (both usucha and lighter lattes), but it genuinely made me curious about moderation vs very high consumption — especially when it comes to expensive single cultivar matcha.

So I wanted to ask:

How much matcha do you realistically consume daily?

Has your intake changed as your palate evolved?

Do you think social media has normalized excessive matcha consumption?

And do you think some single cultivar matcha is better appreciated as usucha than latte?

Would love hearing different perspectives from people deeper into tea culture.

Mezame vs Kamaash Matcha Need help in picking

So I have been a matcha connoisseur for a while now but I only had them in cafes pretty frequently tho.(Boojee, Mokai and Patasa's matcha are my faves of all time. So if anyone knows their blends that would be helpful too ig ).

I have recently started making my matcha at home , so I started with the 'Yuki' matcha blend from Mezame which I loved, but for my daily matcha I wanted to start the 'Tsuki' or 'Mizu' blend by Mezame, but the reddit discourse is biased towards Kamaash so now I am confused. I just want a matcha thats like really umami and is upto par with 'Yuki' atleast.

TL;DR: can't decide between Kamaash and Mezame's Tsuki/Mizu , need something for daily matcha lattes that at the very least compares to Yuki from Mezame and is umami heavy.

Need me a banger hojicha recipe

I usually prefer hojicha over matcha because I like smoother, roasted, less bitter flavours. I’ve tried Noon Club and Superbrew so far, and I’ll be trying Midori Spring Tea and Nami soon. My usual recipe is honey/brown sugar + ice + Oatside oat milk + hojicha.

I tried banana milk once (dairy milk) with it but didn’t really like it much 😅 so any other hojicha latte/recipe recommendations are welcome.
