Is this amount of bamboo fraying normal on a new Takayama chasen? Got it from superbrew.
Hey everyone, I just received a new Takayama chasen from Superbrew in India, and I noticed there are quite a lot of very fine bamboo fibers/frays sticking out from the tines.
I’ve attached some close-up photos. This is my first proper Takayama chasen, so I’m not sure what’s considered normal with handmade bamboo whisks.
Is this normal for a new chasen, or does this look like a finishing defect?
I haven’t used or trimmed it yet because I wanted to check with people who have experience with handmade chasen first.
Would really appreciate your opinions, especially from anyone who owns a Takayama chasen.
