I am in Texas and I applied for VR&E about three weeks ago. I have been trying to figure out how to check the status of my application, but I am not sure where to look or who to contact.

Is there a way to check VR&E application status online, through VA.gov, eBenefits, Ask VA, or by calling the regional office? Also, does anyone know how long it usually takes before you hear back after applying?

Any advice from people who have gone through VR&E recently would help.

I am an Army Reserve soldier currently using MGIB-SR Chapter 1606.

My VA.gov account shows I have 28 months and 7 days of Chapter 1606 remaining, so I have used about 7 months and 23 days so far.

I may qualify for Post-9/11 GI Bill Chapter 33 after a future deployment, and I also applied for VR&E Chapter 31.

My questions are:

If I keep using Chapter 1606 now, will the months I use reduce my future Post-9/11 GI Bill entitlement after I come back from deployment?

Will the Chapter 1606 months I already used reduce my VR&E Chapter 31 entitlement if VR&E approves me later?

If VR&E approves me, can retroactive induction restore the Chapter 1606 months I already used?

I am trying to understand whether I should keep using Chapter 1606 now or stop using it so I do not hurt my future Post-9/11 or VR&E benefits.
