The beginner friendly ADV
So guys i am planning on getting a bike. I am 21 year old who will be doing my post graduation in some time. my daily driver is a Honda dio since past 4 years. I have gone on 1 or2 short trips in my dio but not very long trips. About bike experience i know how to ride a bike, but I have never owned one and neither have i used one for a long time. I am not very confident on riding a bike due to less experience. I need some time to adjust. But I know how to ride one, i have tried CB350s, FZs, Hornets and Classic 350s but only in city for probably 15 mins not longer. I have no issue with gear shifts or balance just that I don’t ride regularly so confidence is less. So I consider myself a beginner.
I usually have back pain and comfortable ergonomics are important for me. I like the looks and comfort of a ADV.
After some research i think 250-300s would be good option for me. My requirement is basically for daily commute and city rides. I don’t go out much for rides but i am willing to start and find the idea exciting. It’s just that I haven’t got a group of friend to go for rides with and i am kind of an introvert so difficult for me to go out on my own. However I really want to go for atleast casual weekend rides in the beginning and maybe long rides when i build confidence. My height is 5’10 and weight is 60kgs. Anyways you guys please give me your suggestions if you have anything in mind.
My options are-
- Vstorm SX- i really like Vstorm SX, i like the way it looks and I used to not care much about the lack of tech. I recently got to know it might come with an update by end of 2026 or beginning of 2027. I don’t want to buy one now and regret later that I didn’t go for the new one and now Suzuki the upgrade might not be major one too. I have also heard it’s a bit boring so worried if i would get bored of it in sometime. Will use the bike for 3-4 years. I don’t think height will be a problem. It has a decent mileage too so running costs will be less
2.RTX 300- This i was not very keen on. It’s a new bike and I concerned about reliability and quality issues. I don’t want any issues with the bike as a new and young owner. The specs look good on paper and the bike looks stunning but only worried about its quality and reliability in the long run. Not a big fan of lot of tech. Also do you think it would be over powered for me? Not sure about mileage and running cost
- Adventure 250- this was actually not a part of my list. I like the duke 250 a lot. But since the past 2-3 days i have started liking the adventure 250. Sure, it’s a bit expensive but gets decent equipment and i feel it’s a much safer to get this over the RTX. All i am worried about is the size. In pics it looks too big and worried if it too difficult to handle in the city and for daily commute. Also worried if it would be too much for me? I have heard the 250s are calmer and more beginner friendly. So you guys let me know this is the right choice.
Apart from these options we have NX200 and Xpulse 210. I guess they make more sense than the above mentioned bikes but not a big fan of the way they look. Anyways give me your honest opinion. If not these then suggest other bikes which would suit me
