Finally Approved! PD 2012, RD Feb 2026

Approved today.

Sharing my full EB2 NIW I-485 timeline/data point for others tracking NY FO cases and FTA patterns.

EB2 NIW-based I-485
Block: IOE09357*****

A few observations since I know many people are closely tracking FTAs and silent updates:

  • I never received FTA1.
  • 3rd FTA0 came on 5/13.
  • The 5/13 FTA0 had the event timestamp/date matching the same pattern as the earlier biometrics FTA0 updates.
  • After the 5/13 FTA0, I received repeated silent updates until approval.
  • Primary applicant never received EAD/AP approval before GC approval

The silent updates were mentally exhausting to track, but in my case they did appear to indicate active movement.

Full timeline:

  • RD: 2/25/2026
  • Biometrics completed: 3/18/2026
  • 2x FTA0: 3/16/2026
  • Silent update on I-485: 3/24, 3/30, 4/29, 5/6, 5/13, 5/14, 5/15
  • Silent update on I-765 and I-131: 4/21/2026
  • Derivative EAD/AP approved: 4/2026
  • Case transferred to NY FO: ~4/29/2026 (emma said "New York" so I am assuming its NYC)
  • 3rd FTA0: 5/13/2026
  • Approved: 5/16/2026

Its been a long journey to get here tbh. Elated that its finally over. Wish you all the very best. The process does work but its not as predictable as you would think. I pondered a lot over these events, silent updates etc. only to realize there isn't much of a pattern to derive here. ChatGPT and Gemini can provide modest help at best.

2026 Corolla LE - Backup camera cross traffic alert is... optimistic at best

So Just joined the family with a new 2026 Corolla LE. Overall I’m pretty happy with it, but one thing has been bugging me: the backup camera cross traffic alert.

The system feels weirdly bad at noticing actual cross traffic. Half the time it won’t beep even when I can clearly see a pedestrian walking behind the car. I was told it’s mainly designed for cars and not pedestrians, which honestly feels a little lame.

My older Elantra would detect basically anything that moved, even outside the camera frame. Meanwhile the Corolla seems to treat pedestrians like stealth ninjas.

I realized recently I’d gotten into the habit of trusting the screen too much, and this car quickly taught me that the warning system is more of a “friendly suggestion” than an actual lookout.

Hi,

My employment based AOS (I-485) case is now at the NY FO as per what emma live agent told me. NY is non-local to me.

It probably was transferred at around April 29th.

Would you know the general timeline and how long it takes for this particular FO to process AOS cases?

Thank you

PS: Emma just told me its New York FO so am assuming its Manhattan and not Brooklyn or Long Island.

Edit: Got a silent update today 5/6
