AOS or Consular Help!

I’m currently in an immigration limbo. I have an approved PERM and I-140, and I also have a pending affirmative asylum case. I’m not sure how to obtain my green card.

whether I should pursue adjustment of status in the U.S. under INA 245(k), since I only have 69 days of unlawful status, or go through consular processing instead.🤔

Has anyone been in a similar situation or had a similar experience? I’d really appreciate any advice or recommendations from someone knowledgeable about this process.

EB-2 NIW Concurrent Filing or Wait?

I’m eligible to file my EB-2 NIW I-140 and I-485 concurrently but my attorney recommends waiting until the I-140 is approved. They said that since the green card process takes about a year anyway concurrent filing doesn’t provide much benefit.
I’ve seen many people suggest filing concurrently to protect against visa retrogression and to get the EAD/AP sooner.
For those who have been through this recently:
Did you file concurrently or wait?
Why did your attorney recommend one approach over the other?
Looking back would you make the same decision?
I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences. Thanks!

Error Filing Derivative Spouse's I-485 Online Based on Approved NIW I-140

Hi everyone,

I'm filing my wife's Form I-485 online as my derivative beneficiary. My own I-485 application has already been submitted successfully.

Our applications are based on an approved I-140 through the NIW category. However, when I try to submit my wife's I-485, I keep getting an error (see screenshot).

Has anyone experienced this issue or knows how to work around it? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Writ of Mandamus against USICS

Does anyone know how long it takes after filing a writ of mandamus against the USCIS for delaying my immigration cases (I 612, I 765)? I’m currently unemployed due to delay in issuing my EAD

Changing jobs after filing I485

Has anybody changed jobs after filing I485? The new job is still the same SOC code. The new job is not aligned with PE as good as the old one. But it is not unrelated. Even the job titles are same

I-765 Got approved

Our priority date is August 1, 2025, we had our interview on November 12, 2025 but the IO didn’t let me go inside for the interview (I’m the USA citizen) just my husband (Mexico) and his lawyer went in, but before closing the door she just told me “the application has been approved”. She only asked My husband 3 questions
1-) wife’s birthday
2-) wife’s complete name
3-) Home address
The interview was 5-7 minutes and when my husband and lawyer came out the lawyer was confused because the IO didn’t say anything about the interview she just gave them a white paper saying “we are going to review” and we haven’t heard anything until today that he got an email and I logged in to his account “your I765 has been approved” he got his work permit for 1.5 years.. My question is do you guys think he’ll get his I485 approved soon?

Cover letter position in I-485 package

Hello, I am doing DIY I-485 for both me and my spouse. My package is almost ready, but I am a bit confused on where I should put the cover letters. The cover letters include the formal letter to USCIS with index of forms and exhibits. Each cover letter is followed by G-1650, G-1145, I-485 and supporting documents. The photographs are attached on top of the cover letter with paper clips.

But I found that some references where it says G-1650 followed by G-1145 should be at the top, the cover letter should be after these two forms. On official USCIS website, there is no mention of cover letter. Because I mention these two forms in the index list of the cover letter, I thought they should come after the cover letter.

Any suggestions on whether I should put the cover letter on the top before any forms or I should put G-1650 and G-1145, then the cover letter?

March 2026 filler

Has anyone with receipt number IOE093616XXXX received an approval or any recent update?

My case hasn't had any movement since my last update on 05/22/2026. I'm starting to see a lot of people who filed in April getting approved, while my case seems to be stuck.

Timeline:

  • Filed: March 11, 2026
  • IAF created: March 28, 2026
  • Last update: May 22, 2026
  • Current status: No movement since then

Is anyone else in the IOE093616XXXX receipt range in the same situation, or have you received an approval or other update recently? I'm wondering if our batch has simply been delayed or skipped for now.

3rd FTAO about 20 days ago, no update since then. What does it mean?

Hi everyone,

My RD is October 2025. My case was moved from NBC to the St. Paul Field Office on June 2. Then I had a third FTA0 around June 15, but there has been no update since then.

Does this usually mean the officer is still working on the case, or could it indicate that more background checks are still pending?

I know every case is different, but I wanted to see if anyone had a similar experience after multiple FTAO updates and how long it took to get the next update or decision.

Thanks in advance.

For fast approvals what was your current underlying status?

For those who were approved quickly (2-3 months) what was your underlying status at the time you filed your i485?

I've had a working theory that those with dependents have been getting processed more slowly and that seems to be generally the case.

But doing some additional research, I'm wondering if underlying status is also playing into this - specifically, those of us who applied for an AoS while on a single intent visa (B, F, E, TN, whatever).

I'm on an E2 and an officer waived my interview on May 14th but then got the May 23rd silent update and it's been radio silence since then.

I'm wondering if my status, plus the fact I have a dependent, has basically nuked my interview waiver and sent me to the extra scrutiny 'pile'.

Looking to get some other data points to see if this theory is supported by the data.

3rd FTA0 on your I-485

Can sbd please clearly explain what the 3rd FTA0 means for your application. I’m mostly interested in what the system connects to your profile.

(Please do not just mention it is the indicator of soon approval/interview, mostly curious about the technical meaning)

From NBC => Local FO => NBC again

My EB1A I-485 was initially received at the NBC in Early April, Biometircs at the end of April and then a silent update at the end of May. After the silent update, I chatted with Emma Live Agents and 3 of them consistently said my case was at the local FO (3 separate weeks in June). This week, I chat two different Live Aganets and they said my case is at NBC and interview is waived. I also called the USCIS hotline and a man says my case is at NBC and interview is waived.

Does anyone have experience with NBC to FO and back to NBC experience? If yes, how long did it to to get approval or if you can share your timelines.
