About that movie shot in Boutwell's Bowling Center

“The Pinsetter” chronicles a New England candlepin joint over a ten-year span from 1994 to 2004. Per its synopsis, “an aging, morally dubious candlepin bowling alley owner, Henry Nash, battles precarious finances, changing tastes in entertainment and a conniving local politician to keep the communal dream of his suburban alley alive at the turn of the 21st century.”

Can we start elevating Karishma Manzur from NH as a candidate?!

Karishma is an amazing progressive candidate in a very purple state, she wants to stop funding Israel, refuses aiapac donations, and wants to take money out of politics, she thinks the NH delegation has been too moderate and we need the complete opposite.

Karishma is a scientist with a PHD and is exactly the type of person we need in the senate right now! She started at 8% in the polls and she is now at about 30%

In a state that overwhelmingly supported Bernie sanders twice and basically kick started the progressive movement our state Democratic Party has refused to move left even though twice we chose a progressive. This has cost us control of the state house as the party continues to act more and more like republicans

We need to get Karishma Manzurs name out like graham platner got his name out! We have until September 8th primary to get Karishma 20% more support to win our primary!

Offered to drive U-Haul cross country with a catch

Hey so my buddy texted me about a gig that he couldn’t pick up and asked if I wanted it, he said someone would buy my plane ticket and fly me to utah to drive a U-Haul truck back to New England, I told him hell yeah get me on that plane and I’m east bound and down! But after talking some more the catch is that I also have to drive a 75 year old women back with me because she can’t get on planes. I was super pumped for this gig because I love driving across the country especially if I’m getting paid to do it but I’m now hesitant about taking this job because I’m not sure about having the company of a 75 year old women with me I’m only 24 and I love old people but I figure it’s either gonna be like driving across the country with the sweetest granny you’ve ever met or I could get stuck with the grouchiest Karen you’ve ever met. What kind of rate would you charge if you also had to take a granny that you’ve never met with you?

I am sick of seeing Billy in a hockey arena and I’m gonna straight up say his booking agent is kinda ass

So for starters I have seen Billy at every single type of venue from his smaller venue early days to the stupid hockey arena shows, and at the outdoor amphitheaters and sheds. I will go see Billy wherever he plays but for the past year and a half it seems he has skewed heavily towards playing at the minor league hockey stadiums and those place aren’t built for music, the sound isn’t usually the best in those venues and unless you are lucky to be on the floor you have maybe a foot and a half to nod your head to the music, it’s impossible to dance in those venues and honestly I think it effects the bands playing, when the crowd has room to move and groove and go crazy with dancing then the energy becomes electric, by stuffing people in tiny aisles and seats it’s almost impossible for the crowd to reach peak energy exchange with the band and I think that can effect the energy the band picks up from the crowd and in turn sends back to us.

I would like to hear people’s opinion on the hockey stadiums shows and if you’d rather see him play outside?

How did the Duttons survive the Depression?

So I just recently finished 1923 and I was thinking, how did the Duttons survive the 29 crash just 6 years later and the following depression? I imagine Jacob and Clara would either be dead or close to it and that would have been really hard on Spencer having to raise a 6 year old child by himself, also I can’t imagine that the ranching/ cattle industry was exactly booming during the depression, not to mention any money that they had in the banks probably disappeared during the bank runs, also they would have had a hard time getting loans. I really hope 1944 addresses how they survived that time period of the depression, I imagine they could introduce a “Rip” like character who was drifting looking for work during the depression and happened to stick around the ranch for a meal and board, maybe this character could be Jimmys great grandfather and his son (jimmys grandfather) grew up working with John Dutton the 2nd and that’s why John Dutton the 3rd felt like he had a responsibility to take jimmy on as a ranch hand in the original series.

I want my city to cap the highway while the state plans to expand the interstate from 2 lanes to 3

I live in concord NH, currently the interstate goes from 3 lanes to the south of us to 2 lanes through the city, it creates a bottleneck that I know adding another lane won’t fix, on weekends we get a crazy traffic jam from everyone trying to get to the lakes and mountains and the state is pretty set on expanding the highway to 3 lanes.

For decades the city of concord residents have included in master plans that they want to reconnect the downtown to the river, we have a bike trial on the other side of the river in that big field but it still doesn’t connect the river to downtown.

Currently the project to expand the highway to three lanes is projected to cost 750 million dollars for five miles, my plan would take one mile of that section and trench and cover the highway through the downtown section along the river and through a section of a dying retail area that could be revamped with a more walkable streetscape and basically adding an entire underdeveloped area to the the downtown.

From preliminary projections it seems burying one mile of highway would add an additional 400 million to the project, but would unlock a boat load more money in federal grants that would basically make the project cost the same for the state as if it was just building three lanes without creating this developable space and green space.

How should I go about presenting this idea?

My huge deck needs to be replaced. Can I landscape instead?

I have a deck that starts at ground level and at the far end is almost 5 feet off the ground as my yard slopes down. It’s 20 feet wide by 33 feet long.

If I just tear the deck out completely, there will be a huge low point ranging from 6 inches to several feet below the ground as it extends from my house.

I’m getting different quotes but rebuilding this deck is going to cost something probably between 30 and $40,000 if I really do things correctly. That’s a tough pill for me to swallow.

I’m trying to brainstorm other options. Obviously I’d have to fill in the area with some kind of dirt and grass. But I’m wondering what else I could do. Maybe there’s a way I can take advantage of the existing downward slope? But then it wouldn’t be level with the two lawns that are on either side of the deck.

Ideas appreciated! I live in the Seattle area. Stuff is pretty expensive here.

NH Rep says it's "very tempting to run bicycles off the road" while arguing against a Bill to set lower speed limits

NH Bike-Walk Alliance article

"During the New Hampshire House of Representatives session on April 23, 2026, the chair of the House Transportation Committee said on the House floor, “It is against the law to run over pedestrians. It’s against the law to run bicycles off the road even though it’s sometimes very tempting.”

He was arguing against SB559, a bill that would have allowed municipalities to set lower speed limits where a traffic or engineering study supported them."

If you know this intersection on Main St you’d know it’s got to be difficult to get your car on the roof here.

As a new coffee shop opens in penacook it’s giving city leaders and residents a moment and space to reflect on what a vibrant little village Penacook is starting to become again. From the new businesses like this coffee shop and the ice cream shop that opened last summer paired with a new park to enjoy these little staples of enjoyment Penacook is really transforming into a cool little village on the northern edge of the city to live and enjoy.
