Does where you train really matter?

if you're trying to be a professional full time reigning world champion i could see the argument of changing schools to be at AOJ or kingsway to make this happen. but let's say youre a competitor, you just want to push yourself and win a couple opens.

if you are dedicated to the lifestyle and compete a lot, how much does where you train actually impact on your results? i have this feeling that at an "average" school with a handful of good black belts and a training room with plenty of sizes and skill levels, it may not matter much.

has anyone quantified this? changed gyms and noticeably started winning more comps?

Usually when I solo travel I can find ways to enjoy and appreciate a city by just walking around, popping in shops, and talking with people, but I tried it in Copenhagen since I had a 9 hour layover and was so underwhelmed. I walked a good bit, seeing several areas of the city, and didn’t encounter anything remotely interesting. The food I had was mid, the churches are ok, the canal was underwhelming. I didn’t find anything about the city unique or charming.

Is Copenhagen actually a destination for some people? If so, what am I missing?
