Halal version of xeqt/can xeqt be purified?
Salaam everyone! Complete beginner here from Canada wanting to open a TFSA Wealthsimple. I’m 18 turning 19 soon.
I’ve recently been seeing a lot of talk about XEQT. And while doing research on it, XEQT is flagged as non compliant and sometimes doesn’t even show up on some screening websites.
My questions are:
Is there a genuine halal ETF available that’s comparable to XEQT?
If XEQT isn’t considered compliant, is it permissible to invest and then purify the non-permissible portions of its dividends/gains by donating?
Is dividend purification only applicable to ETFs that are already sharia compliant or can it apply to things like XEQT?
I really don’t want to dismiss the importance of halal investing but I just feel like it’s really hard to keep investing halal as many people have different opinions/views and I’ve been unable to find something that preforms as well as XEQT if that makes sense.
Please forgive me if my questions aren’t worded super well lol I find it hard to word them as I’m still very new to the idea of investing overall.
I’d appreciate and am open to any guidance/advice.
