I mentioned to my advisor that I failed a course I was doing relatively well in. My younger brother and I both took the class and I actually did the readings and attended lectures/tutorials while he didn’t. He passed, I failed. I emailed prof Huss and got a copy of my final. After writing our final my brother and I verbally compared answers on the drive home and got similar results. I told all this to my advisor and she mentioned getting someone to take a look at my progress in the course to maybe appeal it. How do I go about doing this?

Okay i emailed my department for permission to enrol into a course

(switched majors and my permission for required classes is still reserved)

Anyway i emailed them twice both on monday and today and they have gotten back to me saying i had 24 hour permission but whenever i actually tried to change my section it was still reserved.

I brought this up with them when it happened the second time and gave them the course,lab, and Cat# of the desired course i’m looking for (Lab 13) they proceed to respond to my email by saying “Lab 14 is full try labs 13,15, or 17”

Like hello??? no fucking shit that’s why i’m asking for Lab 13 its like they don’t even read what i’m saying and they always give me the most soulless responses

Atp i think they’re annoyed with me emailing so much and have something against me 😭😭 maybe if they removed my restrictions permanently like i emailed them to do 2 times and yet they completely brushed over it and never acknowledged what i said and skipped to the other stuff in the emails

i have yet to do so cause courses i need are not available right now so should i just put in filler classes so that osap has my right amount of classes?

I have a chronic illness called Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome, or if you know by its previous name, Poly-Cystic Ovarian Syndrome. I am currently on hormone medication for it but unfortunately I experience these things (not all but here is some) with or without hormone meds;

-> Sleep issues and Anxiety

-> Periods are uncomfortable and standing up during my period makes me uncomfortable (like cramp-wise) (im still going to class and all that, I just hate when its placebo week)

-> Possible chance of migraines (i had really bad migraines before during classes and i couldnt focus), or fatigue (i also have 2 deficiencys, Iron and B12 and im currently taking those as well)

Should I consult with SAS? I would hate to be someone abusing the system built for those who need it. I feel like I need it but im hesitant because I dont look "sick enough" nor look like "someone who needs accessibility services." I remember a friend in a previous class told me that Student Acessibility Serivces is good for dealing with this but im still not sure. Advice?

hey guys so i’m starting my first year this fall i was wondering how do i take notes during lectures?? Do i need both a laptop and ipad cuz i’ve seen ppl use both, but im confused and also are there any apps u guys use?? and how should do to do good in that class. Anything helps:)

ps: im doing cs sooo if anyone has done this it would help know how you’ve guys took notes to get good marks

I'm an incoming graduate student at York University, and previously my undergrad was at McMaster. I have been trying to create my York Passport account and enroll in some classes, but my goodness, why is everything so confusing at this school? There are so many steps just to get your email, your enrollment, its giving me a damn headache. At mcmaster you got access to your mosaic, which literally had EVERYTHING one and done. I'm so close to pulling out my hair

Kinda tired of going to the movies myself lol. Since there are so many indie theatres screening cool stuff in Toronto, I thought I’d see if there were any film buffs who’d like to periodically hang out and go to the movies?

I took a DEMS course as a free credit class (DEMS 2700) but didn’t know it would count towards my GPA for major courses. I didn’t do well in the course and was wondering if it’s possible to ask for it to not be included in my major GPA since it’s an elective?

Has anyone else had this problem before?

Also, would I contact my departments academic advising for this matter? Thanks!

I (24F) will be starting Teachers college in the next few weeks. I’m attending York University’s Junior Intermediate B.ed cohort with English as my teachable.

Overall, im excited for this journey but I must admit I’m super nervous lol! I would really appreciate some tips on how I can best prepare myself and maybe some suggestions on the things I may need.. (Aside from a laptop, pens, notebooks etc. what are some things that may be useful?)

I wanna start going to the gym, and I actually bought a yorku gym membership last year but didnt go once cuz id be so tired after class id just head home.

However when the semester starts I am planning on going at least twice a week...

The only thing is I commute, so obviously I can only go after class so I can head home and shower (I wont shower on campus, dont feel comfortable with it) but im not sure if this is sustainable and ill continue with it.

Does anyone know of any low cost gyms for students near the north york area? Also how is the women's only gym at york, is it decent?

Just was curious about cs students gpa to know whether pursuing grad school is possible. (ex. law school)

Anyone else decided to look up how much UHIP will cost this academic year and almost throw up by how much the price has risen from last year??

Long story short I failed two classes last winter (got Ds on both which is not enough for my program) and so I retook one of them this summer (passed barely) and petitioned for a late withdrawal of the courses I failed. I got a confirmation that they accepted my petition beginning of August but it still shows the failed grades on my transcript, so my GPA is still too low to enroll for the coming year which it shouldn't be if the grades were removed. I spent the whole day today emailing and going to different offices trying to fix this but everyone kept pointing me to other people and now my only recourse is to wait for the Registrar's Office to update my transcript which may take weeks. Why the hell it would take weeks to change two things on a spreadsheet is beyond me, but irrespective of the rationale it may cost me an entire year on my limited time program. I spend 8k a year on this school and they're unable to let me give them more money because of their spaghetti bureaucracy.

Looking to have a few people playing tennis regularly. I want to play 1v1 or 2v2 even. Beginner-intermediate, create a group chat and decide on a day and time. Also how the use of the courts work and all that. I have a gym membership and returning to clases in September. I do want to start this week evenings and maximize the rest of summer and fall.

Bah, I'm just fucking with you all. I'm not that sad, yet, but I'm here for a different reason altogether. This was just to get your attention like a Bullfighter with a Red Cape. If you are struggling with this, I'll leave a medley of advice on how to get yourself out of this mess of emotions. Not a guidebook, advice. These are people you're dealing with, not automatons designed to your every whims.

Anyway, I did all this to ask a few questions of you, the students of York who I am willing to bet have Streamers or YouTubers on in the background while you toil away at assignments and studying.

I'm busy getting some marketing traction for my games, Broad Daylight and Graftage on Steam, in time for my updates and overhauls to them to be set off for big horizons, and I don't watch enough streams to know where to look for potential limelights. If your choice of streamer has a penchant for games with a cozy vibe, story driven, puzzle, psychological horror, or simply have a preference for small games, can you please point me in their direction so I can set about getting in contact?

And as for my other question, some of you might have gone ahead and searched on Steam for the two games I have named above to check out the merch for yourself. What are your first impressions? Do you have any questions on these two, concerns, perhaps you maybe looking to get a copy for yourself to burn through as the summer is ending? And yes this is also my attempt to garner a bigger audience while I'm at it. No better place to look than local, right?

So the first thing you have to understand is they are their own person. They have an internal experience, a history, a life that did not involve you up until now. you are looking to insert yourself into their lives. In the age where intentions are misconstrued, acts of friendliness can be mistaken having ulterior motives, looking for something to gain, I say you're better off saying it outright.

Not with a dumb "I am in love with you", that is far too extreme for a first encounter. Strike up a conversation, get the ball rolling, and use that chance to gauge whether or not they're comfortable with you around. Body language, gestures, behaviors, that sort of thing.

Ask if they've got a second to talk, be natural about it, and figure out if they're with someone else already before you risk being a homewrecker. If you ask and they say yes, you can sigh and back off, knowing now the gamble was a failure and you didn't bet too big that you have destroyed yourself. If they do happen to say yes, and this is importaint, ask if they're looking for a relationship. Just because they're available does not mean you can mozy on in.

On the off chance they are looking for one, it's then you ask for contacts. Then you have a solid chance, but it can always turn awry, like family matters, something about their history they haven't opened up about, your clashing values, worn down tolerance for your antics that they got sick and tired of. Hell, it may even be they think you're too good for them and bail because their self esteem is at an all time low. Whatever the case, if you manage to click, know it can always click apart, so cherish what you got now and make it worth it, and if you can, make it last.

This does not apply to you if you're an abusive asshole and they all left because of you. Eat shit.
