Two Can Win
I was backpacking in Los Padres national Forest with a group from my University. I ended up hiking pretty far ahead of the rest of the group on my own. I was on a little bit of mushrooms and my headphones had lost their silicone tips and were unable to fit in my ears. And so I wasn't able to play anything off my music player and the only music I had was what was temporarily cached music in Spotify. One of the songs that was still available for me to play was Two Can Win by J Dilla off his final album. I was listening to it from my smartphone speakers which sounded like shit. But it didn't matter. Walking along that Creek with the sun of my face hearing that sample, that single note held and repeated. It was incredible. I remember thinking about Dilla and his final days and how beautiful his music is and it made me cry a little bit. I love this song.
