Dating here as a foreign girl

Hii,

Im 24f from another EU country:) I’ve got a job offer to work in Copenhagen that lm seriously consideringgg. But since im also recently single l was wondering about Copenhagen’s dating culture, especially since its a topic you cant find hard data on. And also l havent really come to contact with any danish peers (l visited the country when l was younger with my family hahah so there were not really many opportunities to khm socialise).

Ive seen some posts that suggest its quite hard to date someone here :/. Im liberal and not against hook up culture but l would probably get bored of it after some months, so in the long term aspect im interested in a relationship. Its worth to note that l dont have any social net there and job position l got the offer for its not really the ideal place to meet male peers or peers in general.

Here is the catch - ive done my erasmus at KUL in Belgium (and lived in Brussels bcs a family friend there hosted me in their spare bedroom rent free), where l also saw a lot of negative comments about dating - andd my experiance was completely different, even with dating apps. Suree there were a lot of opportunities for hook up, but l was very surprised how much guys tried to pursue me for dating and relationships. And l would go to trips to the Netherlands bcs l had a lot of spare time and had same experiance there. I even had one case of a hook up from a dutch night out and it ended up him pursuing me romantically. l ended up seriously dating a dutch guy l met on dating app, but could seriously date a couple of guys back in Belgium. I think l would genuinely end up in relationship with the dutch guy, havent l gone to a 9-days long vacation in Spain at around 2 months of us long distance dating and opened a dating app there for literary one afternoon. And matched with 2 guys. One of them ended up being a Swedish guy (that lived in Sweden but was on vacation) with whom l ended severely falling in love and being in 2,5 year long distance relationship. And they were all cute, educated and good hearted guys and l was even wearing braces when l got to belgium 😭 (thank got not anymoreee). also l only speak english (besides my first language).

So literally at the countries where l taught getting into relationships as a girl would be against all odds and impossible based on what l saw online. I was expecially surprised about The Neatherlands bcs l was never more pursued in all kinds of ways then by dutch guys. Especially bcs lm from a slavic EU country and l was scared l would face some negative bias. Even in general in real life l notice a lot more guys trying to date seriously in person as well as on the apps than what l would expect based on online space.

Butt l am aware l could have some crazyy crazyy luck and starts aligning in my favour and dont want to assume that would be the case in Copenhagen as well. Especially because danish girls are the most pretty girls l ever saw in my life and won body genetics lottery, so l really dont see the reason why someone would go trough hussle of dating someone that is a foreigner.

So l would be happy to hear about your dating experience here, especially if someone here had experience dating in the Neatherlands / Belgium.

Debata o začetku investiranja v 2026

Živjo,

zanima me, ko bol izkušeni v investiranju gledate na začetek investiranja v all time high marked v 2026.

I dont understand USA culture around tradwifes (as an european)?

Hi,
ive been basically learning english since being 5years old, and all trough out my childhood l watched CNN, USA news, movies, now tik tok etc. so l would say that l feel very close to American culture.

There are few things l dont understand, the biggest being the tradwife culture and debate around it. I am too afraid to ask someone directly bcs its a sensitive topic soo l will shut my shot here.

I imagine an important part of it is that usa never fully went through with proces of socially abandoning religion. I understand that some parts of usa are quite religious, compared to native europeans being atheists across all tax bracketsy

But l see even non religious american women want to be a trad wife and l really dont understand.

A lot of europeans wont say this at loud, but in (most of) eu being adult that is permanently without a job is considered the most luzer thing you can become in life, regarding your tax bracket. What do you mean you are adult and dont want a job. What do you mean that you are s 45yo and ask someone for pocket money. Especially in usa where there is little to no social security net and you dont get monthly government child allowance.

And to be without college and permanently unemployed? Forget anyone will want to be your friend, probably some family members will cut you out of their life, but all will call you lazy luzer of the family. Basically society will see it: you are lazy and have bad morals. And your children will get weird looks in school and other children will ask them why their mom doesnt have a job. Your husband will get weird looks and people would think he could do better / that he is s victim even / people will wonder why is he in this situation and doesnt advocate for himself. And also people will think that you are a lazy or irresponsible bad mother that doesnt do enough for her kids and that her kids could have better life if she wasnt so lazy and would be able to bring home an income (bcs there could always be more). Basically for a woman to have kids and not have a job or just not have a job as an adult is almost the most luzer thing you could do in life, only maybe becoming prostitute or heroin addict would be worse. People deeply connect “being lazy” with bad morals.

Adult women who dont want to work so hard and arent concerned with earning a lot of money just become government employees like in social service or sth. Then if they want more affluent life style, they marry someone more hardworking. Which happens often and l would say its eu version of “tradwife”.

And even if you look at the history, my granma (a 90yo+) is from village and didnt have an formal job - but because she was the oldest sibling and thus an heir to family farm. My grandfather went to work snd would help her with farming, but on day to day basis she did the most farm work. Her younger sister (married to an upper class city guy she met in high school) had a job until she didnt start her own business (during high unemployment rate). And that was/is basically the case in the village. And this women worked on the farm all day, and it was usually hard physical labour but when they sold farm products, they got their own money.

And biological argument “women biologically want to be with their children 24/7”- In my 24 years of life l have never ever heard an european woman say this. I dont have myself the need to be with my future children 24/7.

It would make zero difference to my life as a kid except have less money if my mom was a tradwife. And l think its been well scientifically proven for quite some time now that is bad for child’s development to not sign him into a kindergarten. In my country its even mandatory as you start your learning journey in kindergarten and you would have troubles in elementary school. Even friends wise as other children would already know each other. And dont let me start on home schooling which is in my eyes form of child abuse.

I first heard term tradwife on american tik tok and at first l taught the synonym meant mom that is a trader (like finance bro). I must say, not having a job, goals etc never really crossed my mind personally. Even as child in kindergarten l remember thinking about becoming a bank teller or a doctor.

The hard part for me to understand is how other “ nontradwifes” americans speak soo unjudgementally about someone not wanting to have adult responsibilities and not wanting to financially contribute to their own children.
