Need help preserving rare / valuable 1970's movie posters on a budget

A family member is moving and gave me their movie poster collection they collected as a teenager back in the 70's, he had them rolled up in cardboard tube.

There is about 15 of them, and some of them are quite valuable and not reprints.

  • star wars series A for the 1977 theatrical release

  • Dr. Strangelove how I learned to stop worrying and love the bomb

  • Deathwish

  • Rocky Horror Picture Show

  • The great escape

  • Dirty Harry

  • Apocalypse now

  • A james bond (moore I think? I can't remember)

  • Das Boot

and some other ones I can't recall off the top of my head. These are all the original movie posters shipped to theatres for display during the movies run in theatres, and were originally folded. They've literally just been sitting in a cardboard tube the last 50 years as my family member never got around making the man cave of his dreams lol, and he is moving away for retirement in his 70's now and thought I'd like them for my mini movie den.

The star wars poster alone is worth about 2-3k, and some of the other posters are in the 800-1500$ range. The rest are in the 200-300$ range, but also cool imo because of how old they are and I would like to keep them safe!

I'm broke as hell right now, but I want to make sure I perserve them properly (And on a budget).

I looked into framing, but since they are 27" x 41" (41" no longer being a standard framing size) it is expensive as hell, about 250$ per frame at michaels. Then I'm reading about how different materials can damage the posters over time, acids, low quality glass, that you need UV protection.

I'm really confused, and if anyone can shed some light on how I can perserve these properly I would really appreciate it!!!

If the Oilers hire Babcock, which players do you predict he will target / bully / screw with on the Oilers Roster?

I could see Savoie or Ike being prime targets, maybe Samanski.

It seems to be his thing, pick one or two players and just absolutely torment them and mess with their careers. Who do you think it will be on the Oilers?

Anyone that thinks we are going to win a Nurse trade... lol

The dude gets so much hate, but he sticks up for teammates, puts his body on the line, and eats minutes.

I get it, we need a head on a pike. Just like we needed petry, hall, schultz, skinner, eberle, dubnyk, talbot, and all the other many heads on pikes that I can't even remember off the top of my head because there have been so many.

The OEG deserves the outcome of whatever new ritual sacrifice they are pushing. Love him or hate him, in what world does OEG make the Oilers better with a Nurse trade? Please tell me how the trade works, and how the team improves. Not even being sarcastic or petty, please explain the path to success with a Nurse trade. I'm all for it if it makes sense.

Edit: We have like 15 mil tied up in junk contracts, a good portion of that tied up with players not even playing in the NHL. But yes, tell me more about the 2-3 mill overpay on Nurse, and how we will be a better team by somehow trading him, and also tell me more about how we will not end up in a Jarry level trade moving out assets and cap space for a Nurse replacement.

Sad to see the decline of a western Canadian iconic pizza chain... Panago. (Anyone know the background story?)

All delivery is a massive ripoff nowadays, but panago is by far one of the worst offenders. Their pizza used to be GREAT, the quality has gone so downhill.

It would be one thing if they sold their newer cheap ingredient pizzas for 8 or 9$ per pizza combos like their competitors, but for some reason they MASSIVELY downgraded the quality, AND simultaneously jacked up the prices.

Maybe it fools people once or twice, thinking they are buying some amazing premium pizza, but I've ordered panago maybe twice in the last 4 years and both times were so completely disappointing and a ripoff.

If you enjoy paying 50-60$ for two "recipe" pizzas with skimpy toppings and weird cheap flour dough and little to no sauce, you do you. No idea how Panago is still in businesses.

Used to be really great tasting, and reasonably priced, now it's super cheap tasting and WAY overpriced.

It's a huge bummer, it was kind of like Harvey's in a way, a canadian brand that stood toe to toe with big companies in our local canadian market. But unlike Harvey's, Panago has become such trash compared to what it used to be, and as a western canadian beloved pizza company, it sucks that it sucks now. If anyone knows the background on what happened behind the scenes, would love to hear it.

Panago from like 2000 - 2015 was top tier, from 2018 - 2026 it is microwave pizza quality almost, and outrageously priced.

Out of the final four, who are you rooting for?

I gotta say, go habs go! Their fans are so annoying at oilers home games lol, but damn their team has so much spunk. Bring lord stanley home, it's been 33 long years (insert titanic meme)

Katz as an owner sucks

  • He paid for lots of fear mongering propaganda about the Oilers getting moved after his first failed bid attempt (As if one of the most profitable teams in the league would need to be sold and moved to somewhere like Atlanta Georgia...........)

  • I remember the propaganda around him (most likely paid for) of being a Bruce Wayne savior (small pp rich person wannabe batman energy) of the Oilers when he did actually buy the team. (I wonder where the fear mongering of moving the team to the states came from...)

  • In his second bid attempt, he absolutely fleeced the Oilers Investment group and they caved to the fear mongering.

  • He charges 20$ for a beer

  • He convinced city councillors to pay for the arena, while he collects all revenues for a bajillion years.

  • He is weird

  • He nickle and dimed homeless shelters

  • He has his own personal elevator for his car at rogers, and watches the games from his weirdo billionaire untelevized bunker inside the rafters of the arena.

  • He treats the Oilers like his own little personal childhood toy. Throwing money around to hang out with relics from the past he grew up with.

  • He charges 20$ for a beer

  • He promotoes the 50/50 as some kind of charity contribution, when it was revealed that his business pockets the majority of the proceeds.

  • He signed a paid advertisement contract to taint the sacred oilers jersey with bullshit logos.

  • He sounds like a bit of a creepy billionaire perv

  • He has more than doubled his net worth in the last 5 years, (he made 5 billion+ since covid)

  • He charges 20$ a beer

  • He pays to be surrounded by relics from the past.

  • Through no competence of his own, he somehow lucked into having not only McDavid, but ALSO Draisaitl BOTH AT THE SAME TIME on his team, but pissed away the last 10 years due to his love of middle aged bald men GMs.

  • He charges 20$ a beer

For real, Katz sucks

Edit: I know there are lots of bots these days on all social media platforms. For sure there are some legitimate Katz lovers, but just want to encourage people to check out the comments from "reddit users" that are dismissive of this post and also supportive of Katz. (Whoops, a Billionaire wouldn't pay for social media support, my bad)

People give Nurse a hard time for making 9.25mil, fuck that.

We literally had 9 million of NOTHING in game 6 between frederic and Jarry not even being trusted enough to play in the game.

Think about that, in the playoffs, we set 9 million dollars of cap on fire because Bowman fucked the team up that badly through the course of the year. Thats not even including all the 1st and 2nd round picks, and playeres we gave up so we could watch the bowman fuck up a team masterclass, circa the same shit he did in chicago.

Hiring Bowman was not only such a slap in the face to the fan base when it originally happened, it's been an absolute fucking disaster. I don't blame McDavid if he walks, Katz, the front office, and nepo baby bowman should have been fired into the sun years ago.

before bowman got his stumpy little fingers on the oilers.... in 2024 our PK was SO GOOD we were -2!!! Our PK was so fucking good that we actually scored goals short handed.

2026 under bowman's moves? 50% pk.... 33% success for most of the series, meaning we got scored on 60% of the PK most of the series. What in the actual fuck?

It gets even worse though.... Ingram, our starting goalie, OUR BEST GOALIE, ISNT EVEN SIGNED WITH US! We only have Jarry, for 2 more fucking years. Jesus fucking christ, so tired of this shit. Oilers management deserve this, the fanbase doesn't, and Katz will continue to hire hockey people he fanboyed about back in the 80s and 90s like the weird little strange billionaire that he is, having to buy his relevance since nobody likes actually having to be around him.
