2026 Content Guideline Refresher

Hey everyone!

Last year, we posted some quick revisions to our content guidelines. This post is meant to serve as a reminder of those content guidelines, as well as a notice that we've updated our rules to be more reflective of those guidelines. Specifically, the following:

  1. Paid content, commission posts, and bounties are still banned. We have added an official rule clarifying this in its own rule slot for emphasis. Paid mods are against Bethesda's TOS and we are not a marketplace. We are not responsible for how a person handles or utilizes their money, but money should not be spent or traded here. Posts offering to pay someone to set up their modlist for them would also fall under this category. Reviews of paid content still fit within our guidelines. See the new Rule #9.
  2. Do not use AI to troubleshoot. Do not encourage people to use AI to troubleshoot. No, it is not worth it just because it helped you that one time. Posts encouraging the use of things like Claude, Grok, or ChatGPT will be removed. These are not suitable replacements for hands-on advice. See the revised Rule #7.
  3. NSFW content is and always has been allowed on our subreddit. Unless that content would breach TOS in some way, NSFW content is fine to share or request here when properly flaired. Remember Rule #1 and Rule #3.

If you spot posts that seem outside of our existing content guidelines, please notify the moderation team via the report feature or our modmail. This is a subreddit for modding and modding enthusiasts; keeping it that way will always be our top priority. If there's something you feel should be brought to our attention, please contact us via modmail. Otherwise, please feel free to discuss these clarifications and any thoughts you have on our rules here.

What response did the British expect to their ultimatum before the Second Battle of Copenhagen in 1807?

Over the past month or two, I've been preparing notes for a Napoleonic era tabletop campaign based around the Second Battle of Copenhagen in 1807 set within the Temeraire (His Majesty's Dragon) books. The books thankfully don't go over it.

A large proponent of the books is the contrast between a person's duty and the desires they hold close to their heart, and that's shown in the books through the contrasting duty of the protagonist and the desires of his dragon, the titular Temeraire. This makes the Second Battle of Copenhagen an appealing moment to dial in on.

However, one thing I'm struggling with is the reality of the situation. The British seemed to genuinely believe that the Danish fleet was an existential threat because they did not realize it was mothballed. In order to secure that fleet, they famously ordered a terror bombardment on the city to convince its defenders and citizens to give them what they wanted:

>'If it is found by experience that the destruction of the fleet is actually not within the power of our mortar batteries, we must then of necessity resort to the harsh measure of forcing the town into our terms, by the sufferings of the inhabitants themselves..."

This brings me to my question. While this is an extreme and horrifying measure, what response did the British expect from their ultimatum? Did they genuinely expect the Danish to hand over their entire fleet and, importantly, was this the only measure available to them to gain satisfaction on the issue?

For those unfamiliar, the ultimatum was essentially "give us your entire navy until hostilities with France end or we'll take it."

Citation is from Defying Napoleon: How Britain Bombarded Copenhagen and Seized the Danish Fleet in 1807 by Munch-Petersen.
