Whataboutism will be the death of us

If you went back even five years ago and told people that in 2026 the DOJ would use taxpayer funds to set up a $1.8 billion slush fund to compensate the rioters who broke into the Capitol and beat police officers on January 6, as well as anyone else who had been "wrongly prosecuted" by President Biden's DOJ, they would likely find it odd. Then if you explained that the DOJ also gave Trump and his family blanket immunity from the IRS, they'd really be incredulous.

But what makes it all so much more dangerous and demoralizing is the way in which Trump supporters simply say, 'well, the Democrats started it..." or "it's because of Jack Smith..." It's convinced me that there's not a red line and there never will be.

We're in a race to the bottom and it's difficult to see how this ends well.

What do you think about Trump's reversal on his campaign promise to not allow the Chinese to buy US farmland?

During the 2024 campaign President Trump said: We’re going to protect it by saying 'you can’t come, you can’t do it, we don’t want you buying our land,'” he said. “We don’t want you taking the land and basically taking it off the market, and we don’t want you doing it.

Yet, after meeting with President Xi, Trump told Sean Hannity this week: Look, it’s not that I love it. You want to see farm prices drop, you wanna see farmers lose a lot of money? Just take that out of the market.

Why does US intelligence seem to contradict Trump’s rhetoric on Iran’s military strength?

A newly reported assessment from US intelligence indicates that Iran has operational access to 30 of its 33 missile sites along the Strait of Hormuz, and also retains roughly 70% of its prewar missile stockpile. Yet, on March 14 Trump posted "we have already destroyed 100% of Iran’s Military capability" and he has reiterated this point many times since.

What do you think about this discrepancy?

Is this how you thought the Iran conflict would go?

We're now into the 10th week of the conflict with Iran and the prospect of obtaining a lasting end to it has been elusive. For those who continue to support this conflict, no longer support it, or never supported it, is this what you expected would happen?

I'm trying to book an EXST (extra comfort) seat on ITA Airways, which is an option they seem to offer. However, after speaking to two customer service reps, I've received two different responses: you can only do it if you're overweight (after which I was conveniently disconnected from the rep) and 'it's not possible.'

Does anyone know if it is in fact possible to book an extra comfort seat on ITA?
