Ideas for a new Vocations

Ideas for a new Vocations

First of all, yes, I know there won't be any new vocations in the DLC; this is just a creative exercise I've decided to do because I'm bored and I'm looking forward to the DLC, knowing it's coming out so soon.

The thing is, I wanted to ask myself what new vocations might look like to complete all the possible color combinations (maybe in a hypothetical Dragon's Dogma 3 who knows?), since I can’t deny that one of the few things I don’t quite like about DD2 is that it doesn’t quite pull that aspect off.

I’m going to skip the ones that already exist because there’s no need to explain them, and I’ve left out the Trickster because technically it adds two more colors, and that’s too much to think about right now, lol.

Arbalist: This would be the advanced version of the archer, where instead of using a bow, the character uses a crossbow. The main difference from the archer is that it would be a much more powerful weapon at close range, but it would have just as much range at long range.

Duelist: This is perhaps the one I have the most doubts about, since I don't know how I'd create an advanced version, but anyway, what I've been thinking is that I'd combine a rapier that delivers rapid, multiple thrusts with a secondary weapon, a small dagger.

Hand Cannon: This is a bit of a wild idea, but I imagine it would be a ranged weapon capable of firing at enemies, perhaps with less accuracy than an archer, but with a longer range and greater power. For example, hitting next to an enemy wouldn’t deal full damage, but the enemy would still take damage, since the projectile explodes upon impact. Also, since it’s a heavy metal weapon, it could be used to complement physical attacks, like a hammer.

Monk: The monk would be what many have said they'd like (myself included) a class that's essentially unarmed combat/martial arts. I've decided to make it green and blue because I imagine it as a fast-moving class, like the rogue, that combines unarmed strikes with magic to enhance them, allowing it to deliver fire, ice, and electric punches, etc.

Double Chakram: Dual weapons that could combine melee attacks with spinning projectiles that are launched at enemies and return to the player a few seconds later, allowing them to be combined into certain combos and skills. Another idea I had for a throwable weapon is a giant boomerang, but on second thought, I’d see that more as another possible idea for yellow/red.

Dancing Sword: It would be based on a type of Indian weapon called an urumi, which is a very long and flexible sword that functions somewhat like a whip. It could even be similar to the Fighter or Warrior classes, where there are swords/maces and greatswords/hammers, with some urumi weapons dealing slash damage and whips, dealing strike or knockdown damage. Basically, it would be a weapon for rapid movements with some range, capable of striking multiple enemies from a distance thanks to the weapon’s length.

My D&D characters [OC]

Some of my D&D characters

Vizrin: Half-Dragon Paladin, Oath of Devotion

His campaign doesn't use D&D lore, but rather the DM's own lore; his “race” is related to dragons in the same way that tieflings are related to demons—they can be born of any race and may possess varying degrees of dragon-like traits.

He was raised in a remote monastery in the mountains, brought up by the priests as one of their own. He is a socially inept paladin who uses Intelligence instead of Charisma for his spells and travels with a colorful group of dubious morality

Yazid: Elf Druid, Circle of the Titan

A member of an elven tribe from the Amn Desert. His tribe has clashed repeatedly with soldiers of the Cormirian Empire, who were sometimes even hired by the Malikate of Amn. He ended up being imprisoned by the empire, where he met his party members.

Ashdurr: Fire Goliath Barbarian, Path of the Giant

He hasn't been fleshed out much yet because the campaign hasn't started yet.

A member of a nomadic mercenary clan, he was raised primarily among humans and orcs, so he's grown accustomed to being the tallest one around—to the point of becoming the clan's leader.

Goddrin: Drow Druid, Circle of ???

This is the most recent one; it’s just a vague idea I’d like to use someday. It’s an Underdark druid who specializes in transforming into dinosaurs (referencing the trope of some stories about dinosaurs living underground). I’m not sure about his subclass yet, but my initial idea is a Lunar Druid where all the animals are reskinned as dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures.

I've been working on designs that give different Pokémon, the pseudo-legendaries, a more detailed and realistic anatomy and appearance; this first batch includes Baxcalibur, Hydreigon, and Garchomp.

Also, while drawing the pseudos, I was thinking of ideas for signature moves for each one.
For Garchomp, I thought of a dragon-type move that lets it burrow underground, and after each Pokémon has used its move, Garchomp comes back up to strike the target, all in a single turn. For Hydreigon, it would be similar to Twin Beam, but it's a Dragon-type move with lower power that hits three times
