This is exactly why Trickster is a tank class

After giving it a shot, finally, it does pretty much feel like an unconventional tank type role. Absolutely no damage, but controlling the battlefield is huge.

I used the undead summons of a lich against himself.

Stupid question, but about the cyclops.

Am i supposed to be fighting them yet? I just started and still don't even have pants, but I've run into a couple of them and got flattened both times so far. Am I supposed to be fighting them, or sneaking by like the Tree Sentinel in the beginning of Elden Ring?

Warfarer shapes up to be the default vocation to play in Dark Arisen

With new gear and changes included with patches/ and Dark Arisen Expansion, I think that Warfarer will be THE default vocation to play for various reasons:

  • With increased stats of new weapons, decreased base stats caused by Warfarer vocation means a lot less. Presented in latest showcase magick bow has magick of 1076, compared to fully upgraded Elven Grianmhar 685 magick. (on side note - this makes me think that the relic gear is unupgradeable, because of sheer stat disparity between stock best weapons in the base game and expansion one).
  • Level 3 skill versions and core skills/auguments are now linked to weapons. That means that other classes are limited with their selection of skills based on weapon they roll/find, and there's possibility that there won't be ideal rolls - meaning there will be some compromises to be had. Warfarer completely ignores that, making player use multiple weapons exploiting lvl3 weapon skills and core/auguments to their will.
  • Unless we get new set of maister skills, or their upgraded version, inclusion of wider selection of skills and their upgrades makes them less impactfull than in full game.
  • Most importantly, now with august patch we do get 2 additional skill slots, fixing main problem of warfarer - limited active skills. Now we get 5 skills instead of 3 which is a huge improvement and allows for much higher flexibility for warfarer. Sure there's speculation there could be auto-weapon swap function added based on red glow fighter arisen had on latest showcase, but let's leave it in realm of maybe. 5 skills is enough to create fancy combinations or make unique classes like Strider.
  • Access to free Levitation for all classes is also very nice, especially when exploring new areas.

Bow in showcase

All points mentioned, makes me feel that Warfarer will be the default way to play dragons dogma 2 dark arisen. Of course that's just speculation and capcom could include some class specific core skills and auguments, but as for now - we haven't seen any.

ps. What are your plans on expansion, are you sticking with your main vocation or are you planing to do some fancy Warfarer unique class on your own? Im personally thinking about Ilusionist Strider with Bow/Daggers/Censer, to somewhat recreate strider from the first game and add smoke/illusion theme on top of it. Share your ideas!

[DD2:DA] On Level 999 being unrewarding

For those of you who have reached level 999 in Dragon’s Dogma 2, what would you like the dev team to do to improve the insane grind of reaching this level?

In my experience, all stats are generally maxxed out around level 300.

And if playing solely as one vocation only, then somewhere around level 500 all stats should be maxxed out.

Which leaves about 500 more levels to go before reaching max 999 level. Which feels and is redundant gameplay wise since there are no in-game incentives for hitting that level, notwithstanding bragging rights.

Which is why I pray that the dev team gives us some kind of gameplay incentive to reach level 999.

I’m thinking, for instance, maybe an exclusive full set of armor and weapon that is exclusive to reaching that level and also a permanent boost on RC gained from rentals when your pawn is hired by other players.

This would actually benefit the rift as it would allow higher level pawns to compete against low level top pawns on the monthly pawn ranking. Which would incentivize more players to play with their pawn instead of brining them to keep them at low levels for better odds of pawn rental.

What do you guys think?

I keep seeing hulking shadows in my Rift

It's probably just me being delulu. Has anyone else noticed this? It's happened a few times.

Like i see them a little out of the corner of my eye, and when I focus my vision they dissipate. I have zero expansion expectations, so I don't think it's my brain playing copium tricks on me. Lmk if you've seen this too.

To Insert My Thoughts

To preface, the devs mentioned that Dark Arisen would rix/address the base games issues based on the feedback they've got.

Tons of problems are to be addressed. Perhaps even the story.

What I want is the Beloved System to actually mean something other than a flimsy plot device that gets forgotten after it's used. The first game didn't do much, but at least it had a few interesting characters you could explore.

Here? Can't even remember her name. The elf? Can't even remember her name. It was incredibly bland imo.

DD1? Mercedes, Julian, an actual Pawn?

All I ask is for Dark Arisen 2 to do something with this. It might be small, but It definitely means something to me for one reason or another.

[Note: When the story is mentioned, I mean content that will add to it through the DLC, not a literal main game"overhaul" .]

is there a list of all the combat changes from dd1da vs dd2?

i tried to go back to replay DA in preparation for DA2 but it feels very. awkward and i just cannot click with the combat the way i did in the second game, and i was wondering why that is? it just feels worse in terms of gameplay feel, but want to narrow it down to factual info

People (rightfully) criticize the Story of DD2, but personally I enjoyed it, top-most reason being Phaesus. - He is "LITTERALY ME " as in fighting against fate itself, managing to accomplish something impressive, only for someone to litteraly set it ablaze in front of you, crushing your dreams ...

In DD1 "YOU" lived that journey of your will being tested, ultimately being forced into a role you never wanted and thus reject immediately ( the seneshal )

In DD2, you watch it happen to someone else ...

---

I also laughed for 2 good minutes, because in his post-game quest instead of destroying the dragon jar, I picked it up as so to give it to him ...

but then I BUMPED AGAINST HIM and the jar fell and broke right in front of us xD

Please help train Mephisto. (STEAM)(DD2)

Don't need anything specific, would like him to be more knowledgable and gain some RC for me.

Maybe a Witch's hat and some magical equipment if you are feeling generous.
