The majority of eyekons even on this sub may be solo stans.
I’ve been lurking on this sub for the past week and reading a lot of discussions, even instigating on some of the controversial comments, mostly because I’ve been avoiding studying for exams lol.
I’m not even a huge Katseye fan but I did watch Dream Academy when it came out and I’ve casually kept up with the group since then.
What interests me the most honestly is the management side of everything. As a business and management student, I find the way HYBE x Geffen handled the show and formed the group really interesting. The survival show format naturally created competition between the girls and made fans get really attached to certain members from the start.
I think that’s part of why the fandom feels so divided sometimes. In K-pop companies usually try to push the whole “everyone is close and united” image, but when a group is formed through competition and public voting people are obviously going to keep their opinions and frustrations even after the show ends. I honestly don’t think management expected it to get this intense within the fandom.
Even on this sub people who see themselves as neutral can get really defensive depending on the topic or member being talked about. I don’t even mean that towards one specific side (Manon stans) because I think every part of the fandom does it to some extent. A lot of people get emotionally attached not just to members but also to certain narratives around them.
That’s why I think management plays a way bigger role in fandom culture and group dynamics than people realize. The way situations are edited or left unresolved can shape how fans react for years. Like it’s been ages since pop star academy and people still believe it’s “evidence”.😭😭😭
I’d honestly love to write a paper about this one day because I think it’s really interesting from a management perspective and how it affects both the group and the fandom.
Please don’t take this down I need source material. This is not hate speech I just want to hear peoples opinions.
