Tax First — Saxonia Annual Calendar White Gold 330.026

I’ve owned this piece for awhile at this point, and unlike any other watch I’ve ever owned, the “wow” factor still hits just as hard today as when I first put it on my wrist. This isn’t the first time I’ve posted this watch, and it probably won’t be the last!

Will be interesting to see how the re-launched 36mm WG Saxonia Annual calendar compares, but I’m doubtful that it could usurp the beauty of the original configuration in my eyes. The blue accents on the dial and quirky sax-o-mat mini rotor are some of my favorite design elements. If not for the mini-rotor making room for an always unobscured view the heart & soul of the Lange, I think I’d prefer to have a manual wind.

Has anyone who owns the 330.026 seen the new 36mm Saxonia AC? If so, how did they compare in your eyes?

[SOTC] The Vacation Watch, The Daily Driver, & The Heavy Hitter

I’ve had my fair share of watches over the years, but recently decided to rationalize the collection down to three pieces. Between the three, I finally feel like I have my bases covered for years to come.

Rolex Yachtmaster 40mm blue dial ref. 126622 — my first watch picked up in 2021 when I got my first “big boy” job. Far from a hype piece, but I love the versatility and unique dressy elements vs. the classic black submariner. It truly feels like a “me” watch that I will never sell. Now it primarily serves as a vacation watch; the sunburst blue dial always feels appropriate for a day at the beach.

Rolex Daytona 40mm black dial scrambled serial number (2011+) — the most recent addition to my collection. I can’t think of a better daily beater; its timeless design will almost certainly never go out of style. It looks just as good in a suit as it does in jeans. Personally, I prefer the steel bezel models over the modern ceramic, but to each their own!

A Lange & Söhne Saxonia Annual Calendar 38.5mm in white gold ref. 330.026 — the crown jewel of my collection. Discontinued in ~2020, I think this is the most underrated Lange in their entire lineup. With shockingly beautiful symmetry, the reference comes equipped with a variety of features including zero-reset seconds, the unmistakable Lange outsized date, moonphase made of white gold, and a funky mini sax-o-mat rotor made of gold and platinum powering the caliber L085.1 visible through the exhibition caseback. This watch never fails to elicit compliments; I doubt I will ever find a dress watch that usurps this piece in sheer beauty.

What do you think of this three piece lineup?
