The unspent atomic breath energy breaks Godzilla's body up into a number of seemingly somewhat comparably sized pieces as he "dies" and sinks down. Only one fragment is shown regenerating, unless we're to believe they all somehow collected and fused back together rather than drifting apart. While I'm well aware that A. it would be a pretty wild scenario and probably hard to sell to Toho, and B. they could just arbitrarily say that only one specific piece regenerates by some unknown mechanism if they wanted to, is there any real logical reason to believe the next movie COULDN'T feature several Godzillas regenerated from multiple body fragments? Maybe the trailer just showed landfall in New York while the same really happens in several places across the globe.
