Hit the colors the client wanted but I love how this came out overall even though I would have done a few little details differently

I absolutely love this updated take on Jirass from Tanaka. I had to get this piece and try my hand at it. I know it's technically another Kaiju but in this sculpt you can see Tanaka's redesign of a 1960's Godzilla mostly mosu-goji imo. Incredible.

I know its a complaint post about another social media app, but wtf type of conversations are these.

Here we see the predecessor of Anguirus was none other than the humble Ankylosaurus.

At 100 m length, 30K tons and a 60 meter height, Anguirus clearly dwarfs out it's ancestor by a significant length.

Here is Anguirus 1955, the first generation of the Showa kaiju series, and quite frankly the iconic first foe and later ally to Showa Godzilla haha.

So, I was looking at the cast lists for the Showa Era Godzilla movies (because I'm that kind of nerd) and noticed something:

There are only two characters in the entire Showa Era Godzilla series (in fact, as far as I can tell so far, only two in the whole Showa Era shared universe) named "Ogata". The first is the one we all know: Hideto Ogata (Akira Takarada) in Godzilla (1954).

But what caught my attention was noticing that there's a second Ogata: the First Mate of the Moonlight SY-3 in Destroy All Monsters, played by Chotaro Togin.

Obviously, the two don't have to be related and there's nothing in the movie itself suggesting it. But there's only two characters in the whole Showa series with the same name, and it just so happens the second is the right age to have been the son of the first (Togin was 27 at the time they filmed DAM, so since DAM takes place in 1999 presumably Astronaut Ogata must have been born around 1972 -- Hideto Ogata would've been in his late 30s which is absolutely reasonable). Circumstantial, but the name and timeline just so happens to match up.

Plus, it creates a wonderful direct link to the original movie! Which works fantastically since DAM sets itself up as the conclusion and finale to the whole series. ^_^
