Wanted to Share Family members Decree
It's a family members but I was wondering if the Navy still does these or if it was every sailor vs special circumstances? If so what circumstances? Thank you in advance for anyone answering me.
It's his decree to Neptune from the US Navy. I thought y'all would enjoy it. It reads as follows:
"IMPERIVM NEPTVNI REGIS, To all sailors wherever ye may be: porpoises, sharks, dolphins, eels, skates, suckers, crabs, lobsters, and to all mermais, whales, sea serpents, and all other living things of the sea GREETING: Know ye: that on this [ nineteenth ] day of june [ 1953 ] in latitude 00000 and longitude [ 03807W ] there appeared within Our Royal Domain the [ U.S.S. Missouri BB63 ] bound [ south ] for equator and for [ Rio de Janeiro, Brazil ] BE IT REMEMBERED that the said vessel and officers and crew thereof have been inspected and passed on by Ourselves and Our Royal Staff AND BE IT KNOWN: By all ye sailors, Marines, Land Lubbers, and others who may be honored by his presence that [ Name ] having been found worthy to be numbered as one of our Trusty Shellbacks he has been duly initiated into the SOLEMN MYSTERIES OF THE ANCIENT ORDER OF THE DEEP, Be it further Understood: that by virtue of the power invested in me I do hereby command all my subjects to show due honor and respect to him wherever he may be, Disobay this order under penalty of Our Royal Displeasure, given under our hand and seal this [ 19 June 1953 ] < signed > Davey Jones, his Majesty's Scribe, Neptunus Rex, Ruler of the Raging Main by his Servant [ name ] commanding U.S.N."
