Life Series Monopoly Project: Who should go on the money?

I’m in the process of arranging the properties on the board, but another question is making me unable to sleep: Who should go on the money?

There are seven denominations of money: $1, $5, $10, $20, $50, $100, and $500. I had the idea of putting each winner on a bill since there are 7 mainline Life Series, but there are only 6 mainline winners since Martyn won twice.

However, I also had the idea of putting Jimmy on the $5 in service of the nickel meme.

What should I do? Should I put 6 of the mainline winners on the bills and also put Jimmy on the $5? Also where should each winner go? Or should I do something else entirely?

If the Life Series had a Monopoly game, what popular bases/locations would serve as some great properties?

I'll start:

The Square Hole could serve as a fun Brown/Purple property.

EDIT: Actually just had a thought. Should the Square Hole serve as a low-level property OR as the Jail?

There were 4 questions in Round 2 last night

Last week there was a discussion on this sub regarding the amount of questions in Round 2. A lot of times there are only 3 questions in Round 2, but last night there were 4.

Why is it still so inconsistent after 7 years of being back on the air?

Idea: A Press Your Luck “Survival Horror” game in the style of CloverPit

CloverPit is a video game where you are kidnapped by some mysterious dealer and must gamble your way to freedom via a slot machine by earning enough money. You can also buy trinkets and charms that will make you “luckier” and earn more money.

I have a feeling this format might lend itself well to a PYL-style game where you are kidnapped by the Whammy and must take spins on the Big Board and earn enough money to survive the round. Along the way you can buy charms that either make the space you land on more valuable, activate a 2nd light on the board, or add more total squares to the board.

What does anyone think of this idea? I’d love to hear your thoughts on it and thank you for listening to my elevator pitch.

My biggest gripe with ABC’s Press Your Luck

First of all, this post is coming out of a place of love for Press Your Luck. I’ve been a fan of it ever since I was 6 years old and it’s been my lifelong dream to one day be on the show. But there is one thing about the show as it is now that I can’t ignore.

The prizes on the board are completely broken.

Think back to the Tomarken era, the highest prize on the board was a car worth just over $6k. The highest cash space was $5k + a spin. However, for the Banks era, (nothing against her as a host) prizes on the board can top $40k, $50k, even $60k against a highest cash space worth $10k.

Think about it, you get one lucky prize on the board, it would take someone between 4-5 hits on the Big Bucks space to catch up. Unless you got Michael Larson in your pocket, that ain’t happening.

I understand the producers want prizes on the board to be fun, but they can do that without them being completely absurd. Round 1 prizes do a good job at this with wacky trip packages or just fun prizes all together. (if we ignore the prize packages that are just “X number of some mundane object”)

This prize behavior also extends to the square that has long plagued the board: The Big 40/The Big 50/Big Banks. Not only is whatever this square offers completely broken, the square gets removed once it’s landed on; meaning only one player can benefit from this square.

Everyone loves a miraculous comeback, but that’s what squares like “Take The Lead” are for. Take The Lead works because it also gives an additional spin, so whoever lands on it is essentially forced to spin again which adds more excitement and makes the comeback feel more earned. But it’s a lot more dissatisfying to see someone land on a space that says “Congratulations you win $50-60k from some obscure absurd prize!!” and boom that’s it, they’re in the lead. It’d be no different than just adding a “You Win” square to the board. (If “Big Banks” awarded a spin, this problem would be semi-alleviated, but it wouldn’t solve the problem of every other prize space on the board being broken)

This rant is not me hating on the show. I love this show. I’m ranting because of how much I love the show and want to see it be better.

Straw Bed recipe should be changed to 2 Haybales so that it can be crafted in the 2x2 crafting grid.

The new straw bed was added and it allows you to sleep while you're away from your base without resetting your spawn. The idea of exploring away from your base means that you may not have a crafting table on you at any given moment, and even if you did you'd have to get it out of your inventory, place it down, craft the straw bed, and then break the crafting table to put it back in your inventory. I think it'd be a lot better for the crafting recipe to be reduced to 2 Haybales (and you get like 2 or 3 of them instead of 4) so that it'd be more easily craftable in the 2x2 inventory crafting grid.

WARNING: Do not try to use the new "block_transformer" component. It currently crashes the game!!

So while attempting to play around with the new "block_transformer" component, I used this website to figure out the proper format for the component. I started off simple by making a diamond sword capable of stripping logs like an axe since that was the first vanilla item I could find that had the component. Upon inputting the command, my game immediately crashed. And upon reloading the world, the game crashed again.

I reloaded the world in a previous snapshot and the world loaded just fine with the sword I created; albeit it didn't have the component because it doesn't exist. I immediately threw away the sword and tried reloading the world in the current snapshot. In conclusion, the new "block_transformer" component is unstable and crashes the game.

I expect this to be fixed relatively quickly, but just be warned. This component currently doesn't work when trying to put it on a new item. At least it doesn't appear to.

Thanks to a bug fix in the recent snapshot, it is now possible to use Sulfur Cubes to create dice with working physics.

The bug (MC-308314) prevented Sulfur Cubes from properly displaying the texture of custom player heads. I discovered this bug about a month ago trying to make this very system. Now that it is finally fixed, I am pleased to show off working dice with semi-realistic physics.

This is my submission to u/DotSlashAero's "Redstone Bundle" challenge.

u/DotSlashAero submitted a "Redstone Bundle" challenge where you are tasked with creating a redstone build where all of the resources to build it are able to fit inside of a bundle. My submission utilizes 63/64 bundle item slots.

[fully lost] Whammy! Pilot w/ Todd Newton.

A YouTube channel run by the late Wink Martindale hosted various game show related content such as unreleased pilots and special behind the scenes footage that weren't part of official episodes. Whenever Wink died, ownership of the channel transferred to someone else and the channel was retitled "The Game Show Vault." (a play on Wink's series which was called "Wink's Vault." Now the channel does still release game show pilots to their YouTube channel, but I'd like to draw attention to a specific pilot that has vanished from their channel.

"Whammy! The All New Press Your Luck" was a game show that ran from 2002-2003 on GSN. Two pilots were taped for the show, one for Peter Tomarken and one for Todd Newton. Both were hosted on the channel, and both have vanished from the channel. I reached out to the person who currently runs the channel and it appears they were taken down due to copyright issues. Now Peter Tomarken's pilot is fortunately not lost media because I found this video which archived the pilot in full. Todd Newton's pilot on the other hand has disappeared without hardly any trace. The only three clips [clip 1] [clip 2] [clip 3] that exist were on YouTube long before Wink ever hosted the full pilot on his channel; and it doesn't seem that anyone took the time to archive it properly before it got taken down. Todd Newton's pilot of Whammy! The All New Press Your Luck is now lost to time; slain by the copyright overlords.
