Classical musicians are often some of the most insufferable people you'll ever meet

This doesn't of course go for everyone, and some of the best people I've met I met them studying at the conservatoire. But the worst part of being a classical musician is working with other musicians, as they often are simply insufferable. I'm rehearsing with an ensemble (with conductor) right now, and I'm, except for the conductor and horn player, completely surrounded by the most annoying people I'll ever meet. All of the time, ALL OF THE DAMN TIME complaining about the most minor thing, if you don't like it just quit ffs. Also it's often that they try to change the score itself or the conductors indications for the pettiest reasons (they find it slightly easier, or they just like it better than what Wagner wrote in Siegfried Idyll). Also every comment has a subtext and is trying to test you in some way to play a stupid power game. The bassoonist, for example, asked the horn player how much he was paid. Immediately after she learnt that he was payed the same even though his part was "easier" (according to her), she started bitching about it to everyone else. And every time I have to play with an ensemble I have to deal with this. Why are, in general, classical musicians so much more annoying than the people you naturally meet outside of music?
