u/Same_Bit2000 Posted a question a earlier this week that got me curious if the advertised range of the Nomad 2 was close to the actual range one can achieve. I decided to take it out today since we finally got some decent weather and see what the range realistically looks like. I bought the bike late last summer and didn't get to put a lot of mileage on it, hoping to change that this year.

The Bike: VELOTRIC Nomad 2 Large version. Tire PSI ~30 front and rear. Advertised max range is 65miles

The Rider: 6' 225lbs in questionable physical shape

The Test: Ride the bike in ECO mode, at the lowest torque level to get an idea of what the range is. Pedal assist only with no throttle for the entire ride. I also did 0 shifting and left it in 7th gear. Elevation was mostly flat the entire ride.

The Results: Rode until I used up 25% of the battery. Made it 18.6 miles with an average speed of 13.6 mph. In a perfect world the "theoretical range" of the bike would be 74.4 miles. Obviously we aren't going to get that due to the drop off of the battery, but if we take away 20% of our "theoretical range" to make up for that we end up with 59.52 miles, just a bit shy of the max advertised range.

Obviously the test is far from scientific or 100% accurate but I really just wanted to satisfy my curiosity and I am happy with the results. Had I actually shifted properly, or weighed less (BEEFCAKE!) I am sure the range would increase a little bit, getting it closer to the advertised range.

TL:DR - Actual range appears to be within 5ish miles of the advertised range.
