So my table loves to find lock objects all over the world... They will literally try to pick any lock they can find, open any door that they can, and explore every nook and cranny. After a while, dice rolls for lock picking started to feel pretty bland, so I built the Wardsmith D&D5e module for FoundryVTT to make it more fun. GM'S can configure on-the-fly lock mini games, OR design and place locked objects on the scene for players to find, click, and challenge. There's a registry to keep track of all the objects you place (and control them), and the ability to upload your own designs. The module is completely free. Then video above is rough, but shows the GM side in action.

Hope it helps some folks!

Cheers!

Hey Y'all,

After months of development, we're finally releasing the Gate City Shadows: Wardsmith module for FoundryVTT v14! We're really excited about this one... it's our first new module that integrates seamlessly with the Core GM Panel. And, it's free!

Built to make lockpicking moments into scenes rather than dice rolls, Wardsmith is a GM's command center for all locks. Players find something on the fly? Challenge them on the spot! Or, design and place your own locked objects for your players to find, click, and challenge. However you want to set the scene (be it a heist, a puzzle dungeon, or even a secret compartment in a rickety old desk), Wardsmith is designed to help.

As I mentioned above, Wardsmith is out first ever FREE module for FoundryVTT. Initially available to all of our Patreon supporters, regardless of tier, the proprietary license for it allows those folks to share it unaltered with their friends. No subscriptions, no restrictions, just fun.

We really hope that everyone loves this module as much as our table has. If you have thoughts, ideas, comments, or criticisms, please share them! We're excited for feedback.

You can find out much more at our Patreon, or on our website at https://gatecityshadows.net; you can also check out our flagship module, the Core GM Panel, on Foundry's module library at https://foundryvtt.com/packages/gcs-core-panel-platinum!

Cheers, y'alL!

Hey Y'all. I don't know about anyone else's tables, but at mine, my folks LOVE to find random locked odds and ends to explore. For a long time I've just left it to a quick Sleight of Hand check (we're playing D&D5e right now), but I always felt like that let the tension off too quickly, especially for big finds I've been planning for the party to reach. So, I built Wardsmith - a lockpicking minigame for FoundryVTT that lets you quickly assign locks with all manner of settings (and traps, including simple spell traps). Locked objects can also be placed on the canvas/in scenes for your players to discover (and click!) Interacting with them sends a request to the DM to pick the lock, and start the game. There's a Locked Object Registry, too, so you can track down specific objects in a big map.

I'm really proud of this little module. It comes out Monday, May 4th. Initially, it will be released to all Gate City Shadows' Patreon members (free and paid), but I plan to expand its availability from there.

If you want more details, I made a small page for the module at https://gatecityshadows.net/wardsmith/
