I’m Brazilian, don’t have EU citizenship, and I’m 31 years old. About two and a half years ago, I got hired in Portugal by a large outsourcing company to support a luxury-sector client. It’s a remote position for Portugal residents.
I work as an IT Business Analyst. Basically, it’s a Level 2 support role: I handle requests and incidents in ServiceNow for the client’s CRM and other automation apps. I get excellent feedback from the client and have a very good relationship with my managers.
There are only two analysts on the team. It’s a small project and usually doesn’t take me more than 2 hours of work per day. Recently, my colleague—who joined the company shortly after I did, and whom I even trained—was promoted to the Level 3 support team. Meanwhile, I feel stuck, both in terms of title and salary (1300 euros net per month).
TL;DR: I feel like I should be earning more, both because of my technical skills and my soft skills (Spanish and English). Last year, I tried freelancing in a different area as a Sales Representative and, in 6 months, I made almost my annual salary without even having to actively sell. But I keep wondering: should I stay on this small project, knowing my chances of growing here are limited, and look for another freelance opportunity? Or should I try my luck at another company that might value me more, even if that means being busier during the day?
