Should I upgrade my gear ?

Hi guys ! I'm the happy owner of a Pc that works somewhat well (starting to get a little tired sometimes but overall good) with a 3080 10g graphic card, i9 10900k processor, 32 go of RAM.

I play video games with it, some are kinda demanding but it works overall. I also do a lot of graphist works, I sometimes do 3D stuff on Blender and the likes and I use most of the Adobe suite.

What I'm wary of is the global geopolitical situation. I will need a PC that holds up well for my work and gaming in the future, but I feel the prices might increase like crazy as some future events, like for example a big country invading an island, or more blocus on some straits were to happen.

And as I do have money available I was wondering if it would be a good idea, or safer, to buy a new rig right now, sell the old one, and have something that holds up for maybe the 5 years to come. 😄

Thanks in advance for your answers, have a good day everyone!

How can Bose-Einstein condensate even slow light if any contact with any warmer matter "evaporates" it ?

Big neophyte here ! The way I understand it BEC can't be in contact with any warmer matter, or it returns to its gaseous form ? So I would imagine any contact with photons would warm it extremely fast, yet it's been said to be extremely effective at slowing light.

Thank you ! 😄
