The twelve hands of Greywater Fastness
The current White Dwarf includes Army of Renown rules for Greywater Fastness. One of the units added with that set of AoR is the "Spirit of the Hands". So, what are the Hands?
The city of Greywater Fastness in Ghyran is defended by a dazzling array of weapons. The most famous of these are the twelve Hands. Mounted on top of the outer wall ring are twelve, massive railway cannons. Placed equidistantly around the city in a clock-like formation with a distance of around 10-mile between adjacent cannons. The cannons fire sequentially each hour like a clock thus they are known as the 'Hands', Each of the Hand is fully mobile, and the cannons can be turned inward to maintain fire on anything that breaches the walls.
The Hands are a prominent part of the daily live of the Fastners. Not just can people tell the time by the firing of their guns (some people even claim to be able to tell the time by the specific sound of each cannon), there are even some rituals that have sprung up around them. One of them is known as "Chasing the Hands". Those that want to prove their athleticism will try this rare feat. The goal is to run the 10-mile distance of dense urban sprawl between two of the hands in the one hour of time between the firing of one and the firing of the next gun.
