Like a lot of you, I wanted to put my tree online but was nervous about exposing details of living relatives. I couldn't find a quick, free way to privatise a GEDCOM without uploading it somewhere or paying for software, so I built one.
You drag your .ged file onto the page and it shows a quick summary (people, families, year span), then lets you download a “privacy-safe” copy where anyone presumed living has their name and details removed — while still staying connected in the tree. You set the “presumed living” cutoff year yourself.
Two things that matter to me: it's completely free with no account, and your file never leaves your computer — all the processing happens in your browser, nothing is uploaded anywhere.
It's an early version, so I'd really value feedback: does the living/deceased rule match how you'd do it, and what other GEDCOM headaches would be worth tackling next (duplicate detection, finding dodgy dates, merging trees)?
(Not selling anything — I just want it to be useful.)
