My latest round with Abbott about a bad sensor

I filed a replacement request on August 8th. On the 14th (this past Friday), I checked on the tracking number but didn't find that a replacement had been shipped. I called and spoke to somebody who should not work as a phone rep. His accent was very thick so I had to ask him to repeat what he said several times. There were even a few times that I couldn't figure out what he said so I let the conversation go forward.

He kept putting me on hold then would come back to ask more questions. After dealing this this for about ½ hour he comes back on the line to ask me to confirm my address for the third time. I blew up at him.

Today, I finally got an email from Abbott saying that a replacement was on the way. Apparently calling him a "fkkkng idiot" worked. 🤣 I wouldn't suggest doing what I did but at least I didn't demand to speak to a supervisor just to tell that person to get the guy off phone support for the U.S.

Three bad sensors in a row

The first one stopped working when I was at the doctor's office for my physical. The second one fell off my arm 10 days later when I was about to leave home to see my endocrinologist. She read the report from the previous three months and asked about the low readings from the first day. I told her the sensor went bad while I was away from home and had to go back home to put a new sensor on. The third failure was yesterday (Saturday) morning. I grabbed something from my fridge and heard something hit the floor. The sensor fell off after only nine days!

I use SkinTac to glue them onto my skin. I haven't spent enough time outside to sweat much. When I used over patches they would start peeling after about a week but were still painful to remove.

I didn't ask for a replacement for the one that died 12 hours early. I got my replacement for the second one a few days ago. I haven't heard from Abbott about my claim for the one that fell off yesterday.

Another use for Misen nonstick carbon steel skillet

I used one of my skillets last night to reheat a breaded chicken cutlet. When I've used a tray, with or without aluminum foil, the cutlet would stick. I tried oil but it would still stick. Finally I decided to use one of my skillet. The cutlet came out easily with my steel spatula and the pan cleaned up without a problem. I just have to remember to let the skillet sit for at least an hour before picking it up with a bare hand.

Fubo won't let me sign up

I've tried on my Apple TV unit and on the web. I called and spoke to an agent with Fubo. His explanation is that because my attempts to sign up have been rejected I can't submit a request for service. I've tried three different credit cards from three different banks.

How does Fubo have any customers if they won't let people sign up?

Has anybody else noticed that Taub's first name is unusual?

Christopher and any derivatives of that name is a highly unusual name for Jewish parents to give their children. The only Jewish person with a name like that is a Christine I know who converted to Judaism.

(If you don't understand why Chris/Christopher/Christine et al is not given to Jewish people, read the first six letters of Christopher.)

EDIT: This is coming from someone who hasn't been to a Jewish service in about 10 years. I also needed help from an Orthodox co-worker to write my name in Hebrew for a friend's wedding. Weird fact: I write Hebrew with my left hand and English with my right one.

Suggestions for a new scale

My guess is that I'm not the only one in this sub watching my weight. I don't obsess over it. I only weigh myself on Mondays, Fridays, and any day I have a doctor's appointment.

I've been using FitBit scales for years. I switched to an Apple watch a few years ago from a Fitbit device. Google has "updated" the app into pure trash. It's more of a promo to get you to pay for other services. My scale stopped communicating with the app in late 2024 so I was entering my weight manually. All of those entries disappeared with the "upgraded" app.

I'm looking for a scale that weighs me and reports to Apple Health or to it's own app. That's it. If it gives a rough measure of body fat is fine but I know the electrical impulse method is subject to a wide error margin.

When I try to search for reviews of scales, everything I find seems like the reviewer was paid to rate a certain scale as the best. I've never heard of the websites either.

Hit me with your suggestions!

Thanks.

Any opinions on the Eversense 365? Good? Bad?

I'm using the Freestyle Libre 3 Plus right now. My insurance doesn't cover it even though I am using insulin. The out-of-pocket cost is $75/month. I have a call scheduled tomorrow with a rep from Senseonics, the maker of the Eversense 365, and would like some thoughts so I can ask good questions.

The website for the Eversense says that my cost could be as little as $195 for a year. Is it worth it?

How big is the Eversense compared to the Freestyle Libre 3? Does it stay on for an entire year? Can it be moved from one arm to another? What else should I ask?

Thanks.

I've stopped using over patches. No problems.

The last few times I used an over patch, it would start peeling away after about 10-12 days. the part that separated from the skin still had some stickiness so it would pull lint off my shirts and look disgusting. I'm using Skin Tac. The sensors I've applied have stayed put for the full 15 days. Without an over patch it's no longer painful to remove the expired sensor.

Before I started using Skin Tac I would have sensors simply fall off my arm.

Is there a limit to the number of replacement cards Chase will issue?

I finally gave up on finding one of my credit cards. At least Chase isn't harassing me.

So far this year I've had two of my Freedom Unlimited cards cancelled due to fraudulent charges. Then about a month ago, I realized the then-current card wasn't in my wallet. I locked the card in the iPhone app and kept looking for the card. I finally gave up on finding the card and ordered a new one yesterday (Friday). According to the UPS tracking info, my new card will be delivered on Monday.

I have a Bank of America card and two issued by Citi but the only cards that get hit with fraudulent charges are my Chase ones. I do use them more but the only time the physical card is used is at restaurants and bars.

Strange day - my BG graph looks like an EKG.

After eating lunch I notice my blood glucose level was up to 190. I took a 38 minute walk and it dropped below 100. Eventually it went into the low 60s. It appears the software smoothed out the lows.
