G7

No matter what I do my Dexcom falls off within 5 minutes. It WONT STICK 😭 I used the overlay they give you, and I even had a nurse put one in for me (she’s my sister in law lol) just to make sure it wasn’t a me issue, and it still came right out. I really don’t want to spend money I don’t have on the skin grips but is that my only option at this point? I did just request the patches from the dexcom app as well to see if those work better, but what else can I do or try? I prep the area, it’s clean, dry, and I use an alcohol pad.

Are there any health risks to using an expired g7

Is there a chance of an infection or something like that from using an expired sensor or is it safe (aside from the probably sensor issues)

Where can I find G6 sensors?

Long story short, I'm going overseas in August. I have not started G7 yet, but I know the G6 works perfectly for me and would prefer to have one during my vacation (7days). My pharmacy is not carrying it anymore (Walgreens), so are there any online sources that are legitimate to buy from?

Thanks!

Can I switch from the mmol/L Dexcom G6 app to the mg/dL app without losing my current sensor session?

Hey everyone,
I’ve got a Dexcom G6 and I’m currently using the mmol/L app on my iPhone. My sensor is already running, but I realized I’d much rather use the official mg/dL version of the app since I’ve used mg/dL my entire life and it’s much more intuitive for me.
My question is:
Has anyone successfully switched from the official mmol/L app to the official mg/dL app during an active sensor session?
Can the mg/dL app connect to the same transmitter and continue the existing session, or would I have to start a new sensor and lose my current session?
I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who’s actually tried this. Thanks!

BYOD G6 v1.13.0.2 keeps stopping after Android June 5th security update

My Samsung phone (S23 Ultra, SM-S918U) force updated itself to Android 16 with the June 5th security patch (aka OneUI 8.5).

My dear BYOD G6 keeps stopping even after restarting, clearing cache, and reinstalling from a new BYOD form download. I am in between sensor sessions and I was attempting to start a new sensor.

/u/shabado8 or anyone have any ideas or experiencing similar behaviors? I am hesitant to clear data as the transmitter code is on the app and I did not write it down 🤦

Making it easier to stay on top of frequent G7 replacements

I’ve been on the G7 15-day for 3 months now, and every single sensor failed before it hit 15 days. As you all know, you need to request replacements right away and hope that they ship quickly, because insurance will leave you hanging when you hit the end of your normal supply too soon.

Dexcom’s online form makes it easy to request a replacement, and so far they’ve replaced each failed sensor for me. But I’m usually busy traveling or working and sometimes can't order a replacement quickly.

Why this is hard...

  • You need the Sensor ID, and the start/fail dates when you request. The Dexcom app doesn't clearly show that info in your history, especially if you’re already days into a new sensor.
  • I’ve often misplaced or thrown away the physical applicator by the time the device fails 7-10 days later. This is especially hard when I’m on the road and don’t have access to the old applicator.
  • I’ve tried writing down the info, and taking pictures of my applicators, but being so busy and forgetful, I couldn’t stay in the habit.

Here’s the workflow I use to make this super easy for myself:

  1. Export: Anytime a sensor fails, go into Clarity and export your sensor data.
  2. Get the info: Upload the exported file into Claude and tell it to identify the Sensor ID, start date, and fail date by looking for the last moment when your device changed.
  3. Request: Immediately fill out a replacement form through the Dexcom app, copying in the required info.
  4. Track: Dexcom emails you a confirmation. If you connect Claude to your email, you can then ask it to read your email and pull in the Dexcom case number, and later, the FedEx tracking number after it ships.
  5. Confirm: You can tell Claude when that sensor arrives so it can mark it as “received” in your table.
  6. Repeat the process on the next failure.

I keep an active chat with Claude so I can track it over time. If you ever forget to send one in for a few weeks or longer, this will help you figure out which ones are still outstanding for you to request.

This is what the table looks like. So far I’ve had to request 7 replacements. This would have been a REAL pain to manage without a system like this to keep me organized. It’s also interesting to see the real data about how long the sensors are lasting (9 days on average for me).

There could be ways to automate this even further — having to export your log from Clarity still takes a few minutes. But for the low level of effort, it’s saved me a lot of headaches. You should be able to do this with the free version of Claude. You can also ask it to show exactly the data or style you want to fit it to your own needs.

Hope this is helpful to someone else. I’m curious if you all have your own systems to manage recurring failures. Please share how you’re keeping up with it!

Cheers!

Anywhere to find discounted Dexcoms?

Hi,

I’m dealing with severe reactive hypoglycemia with massive swings from high to low. My insurance has been denying my Dexcom G7 to my pharmacy and Dr without any word to me at all which is completely illegal so we are trying to report that issue. In the mean time I have been getting Dexcom samples from my endo, but they can’t give me any more and I am on my last one.

Does anyone know a good place to get dexcoms for a discounted price? I do know about the manufacturer discount, but it is still almost $200 a month and neither me or my family can afford that on top of other health issues I have.

Unfortunately the Stelo does not work for me because it didn’t alarm to lows, and my lows have only been getting lower. Any help would be appreciated!!!

sensors and swimming?

In jus under a week that can't go by fast enough, I will be goin to see my best friend. Last night, while we were talking about our plans for the first night of my visit, thank goodness for flights that depart and land early, she mentioned that her pool will be back up and running this year. How do the sennsors handle swimming pools? Any tips I should know about? What's the best way to keep the sensor from getting soaked and failing, even with the overpatch on? How long can I stay in the pool before having to get out ith the sensor on?

Devices fail during travel

I’m traveling for 10 days within the US. I’ve had 2 Dexcom G7 sensors fail to connect with the Omnipod 5 within 24 hrs. It seems to mostly happen when traveling and it can be discouraging since I only bring a certain amount of extra supplies. Anyone else experience this issue?

G7 alarms cutting sound on iPhone

How do I stop the high glucose notification from cutting off the sound when I’m listening to music, or watching videos on my iPhone? I had figured out how to shut it off with the G6, but that was years ago. I changed my settings to be vibrate only and it’s still doing it.

Does anyone else like to wear their G7 on their lower outter thigh?

Below where the pocket line is to be specific. So, I don't have any testing strips. I'm newly diagnosed T2D all I use is my CGM right now. Also, no meds. I was just chilling out after hitting the gym and I got a low of 66mg. But, I felt completely fine. I had a couple spoonfuls of honey to bring it up and a handful of peanuts. But, the weird thing is when I hit that 66mg I didn't even feel "off". I'm just sitting in my recliner so I wasnt asleep on it. I'm wondering if the reading was false perhaps due to poor placement. For anybody else that likes to put their Dexcom CGM on their thigh have you experienced any readings that didn't feel accurate? Or, has it been working well for you? I'm currently at 117mg i still feel fine.

Switch from G6 to G7

I'm sharing my experience switching from the G6 to G7. I was a little nervous about G7 having seen numerous complaints since its release. So I want share my success so others who are as hesitant as I've been in making the change may feel encouraged. I'm holding hope for continued success, fingers crossed. I will share how it's going from time to time.

The switch was easy as far as installing the new app and pairing the new sensor with my pixel phone & the Tandem Mobi Android app. From a relaxed pace, it took about 20 mins. Then my BG, after the 30 minute warm up: G7 93, finger poke 95. Boom! Placement: top of thigh, close to the inside, to make room on the other side for the pump (patch & case) & infusion sets over the next 10 days. I've opted to not use the sensor's over-patch unless the sensor adhesive starts to come loose at the edges. G7 mfg date 2/2026, Malaysia.

Question Re. timing(s) of g6 sensor change and maximum transmitter life of 110 days

To start with: I’m certain I’ve asked similar questions. That said, I’m forgetful, and also sometimes experience general anxiety or specific situational anxiety. (So, sorry in advance that I’ve forgotten how this will work out.)

If ~110 days is maximum g6 transmitter life, and my current transmitter was activated on 03/23/2026 at 1:11pm, then (if my calculation is correct,) I’ll need to activate a new transmitter on 07/11/2026. My current sensor was started on 06/26/2026, at 03:17 because the sensor I had in my abdomen failed that morning at 03:06, and I immediately called Dexcom Customer Support for a replacement. (I get up at 03:00 every Wednesday through Friday mornings to be at work by 04:00.) My current sensor will expire on Monday 07/06/26 at 03:17. Doesn’t that mean I’ll only get 5 days of this sensors’ readings before activating the new transmitter? If so, is there any chance Dexcom would send me a sensor because I could only get 4 days of CGM readings from it?

Failing sensors

I picked up 3 g7 sensors from my pharmacy. The first one failed in 3 days. Dexcom sent a replacement.

Now the second one has failed in 5 days of using.

I haven't had many issues up until these last 3 and I don't have any complaints with dexcom customer service. I have to call them again today. I was under the impression that dexcom will replace only so many. I think sense I started using the G7 about 18 months ago I requested 5 replacements. 1 would not pair. The other 4 just quit.

I hate the fact that my app wont say what the serial number or any information about the sensor that is still attached to my arm. Everything about it is just blank.

The data was there when it was working.

It matters because dexcom asks what the serial number is and its just not there. You would think the app would save that data.

I get my G7 From Medicare and they are super strict about when I qualify for my next subscription. 30 days not 29. So when these fail especially if its the last of the three 3 days before I qualify for my next subscription I'm screwed.

This time im still waiting on the replacement of the last sensor and have only 1 left . Now I have to call in for another replacement before I receive the last replacement and it takes 10 days to get.

I have two questions. Has anybody experienced back to back failures?

Has dexcom ever denied replacement?

The questions they ask me make me feel guilty of doing something wrong.

They ask for the serial number that I don't have but should have been stored on their very own app. Stupid!!!

I'm on a weekend trip and lucky have my next and last G7. The box is at home.

I used to throw away the box right after activating because I though the app would have the serial and manufacture info. When these fail the app removes any information.

Dexcom... update your app to record and maintain the data of current sensors so I dont have to feel like it's my fault.

Im a bit nervous now as my endo has dramatically changed my insulin routine and they are watching my reports. I have been falling into the upper thirtys at night. The g7 has been saving my life. If this third and last one fails there will be several days with no data.

It won’t stop reading LOW.

I’ve tried calibrating twice and it just keeps coming back with this. My blood sugar is not low! In fact, it’s high right now! I don’t know what to do.
